fuck fuck fuck fucking fuck
i never got to see them.
for fucks sake.
It's up on Sub Pop's news page, S-K's own site, Pitchfork etc
but also in a way goog as they're stopping after surprisingly unleashing the best record of their careers so late. It's a great time to step out of the spotlight to rounds of applause from every corner.
I'm sure they'll continue popping up in guest slots or other bands and their back catalogue is truly something.
It is a shame though.
but a bit miffed I didn't watch them at Primavera now
but why? wwwwwwwwwhy?!??!?
This is really sad and surprising to me, especially since most of the Woods-era interviews include statements from the band about how the new musical direction they took was going to make it possible for them to continue on as a band indefinitely. A couple of these interviews even include jokes about playing together until they are old.
Unlike most bands, they actually got along better and better and actually became best friends as time went on. Given the nature of their friendship and their strong musical connection with one another, I cannot help but think that we have not seen the last of them (even if it will be a while). I last saw them this year at SXSW. I honestly don't think that seeing the Beatles would have been a bigger thrill.
because they were only earning 10 grand PA.
Sorry, had to be done and I forgot about it yesterday.
Pitchfork's post about it was quite personal compared to their usuals which was nice.
Absolutely gutted. Going off to join the cryathon on S-K.net now.
BEST. BAND. EVER.
