yes, its true....
and i'm seeing death cab tonight so all in all, good start to the day.
I never knew Jenny Lewis was on vocals. Fool.
that Death Cab split up and a new Postal Service was announced. Fortunately only one of those predictions has come true.
whlst the postal service album is amazing it gets slightly samey after the first 4 tracks. the photo album and transatlanticism are both pretty perfect. ben gibbard has got considerable talent.
ben gibbard is truely gifted. although Plans does seem to indicate a more Postal Service route being taken by the band. It's a lot more ambient and focuses on the 'sound' a bit more. However i still think its probably their poorest album.
into something about aeroplanes myself, not as developed as the rest, but new postal service can only be a good thing. when they get it right the music is incredible.
Part of me is like, More postal = ACE!
I think I love Give Up too much, though.
It was so perfectly contained that like, it didn't need anything to follow it up, ever...
But... more music = good, right?
I think... yes.
I'd just better be good.
i had pretty much the same thoughts. worried that it could be, well....crap and not live up to Give Up. but i recently heard the Postal Service remix of Mushaboom by Feist. Its fantastic and completely got me wishing for new material.
that remix was great.
i want them to remix Jeniferever. how do i make this happen?
seeing as i'm working in Leeds Uni for the summer, i'll see if i can bump into mr gibbard at lunch and bring this up with him.
gibbard does the remixes, does he?
i always thought that the flamings lips one was a tamborello effort..
Where can I get hold of it? It was great!
more postal service = best news ever
the only person who thinks they're incredibly boring? just sounds as american indie schmindie average and emo as death cab with stale electro in the background. anyone want to suggest one song to change my mind?
The District Sleeps Alone Tonight, because there's a link to it on the pitchfork news article.
it's just far too dido/frou frou-esque for me, and i've also always found his voice so uninteresting.
They properly rock out in places. You could never accuse songs like We Laugh Indoors (Photo Album)or We Looked Like Giants (Transatlanticism) of being Dido-esque.
a mate just lent me their whole back catalogue so maybe i'll give it another try.
and I just can't stand his voice for longer than 10 seconds.
this makes me happy.
as does the mention of one more "lap around the country" for Death Cab towards the end of the year, as that'll hopefully coincide with when I'm there.
