I actually really rather like

...The Kooks!
Should I consult the doctor?
Why does loving an undeniable pop hook equate to guilt?

  • >Why does loving an undeniable pop hook equate to guilt?

    It doesn't.

You with the Kooks, Mr Diver with Keane - why is it that people heavily involved with DiS are helping to perpetuate the myth that you have to ask if it's OK to like something or not? Puff your chest out, be bold! :)

    Damian | 25 Jun '06, 16:49 | X
    • diver with panic as well

    • yeah, i hate that stupid fucking mentality

"oh no, i like something which is a) disliked by a large amount of people and b) considered as mainstream. WHAT SHALL I DO>??!??!?"
this is what you should do: listen to songs that you like. do not obscure your passions for the sake of looking cool.
and certainly don't whine on messageboards about how you like something that's doing well with 'the nme crowd'.
      guh.

      fishplums @Damian | 26 Jun '06, 01:13 | X
      • Make Fishplums

        prime minister?

  • some of the people

on this thread are scaring me.

    Jamie_Summers | 25 Jun '06, 17:39 | X
  • they're not that bad

i find them especially annoying as i can't seem to escape them, they seem to be everywhere.

    jp100 | 25 Jun '06, 17:54 | X
  • i think

it's because as a doorway or gateway band, y'know those first bands that 'get you' that i'm shocked they're actually not rubbish and that the songs have gone from nigglingly addictive and being everywhere to me feeling like i wanna listen to their album. havent got as far as buying the album tho and i know i'll end up buying something else instead.

    sean | 25 Jun '06, 18:35 | X
    • Not really really bad...

      just dispiritingly average.

      Silentcommand @sean | 25 Jun '06, 19:04 | X
  • I also.

    I think they're nicely good.

    wrightylew | 25 Jun '06, 20:02 | X
  • They're VERY annoying

but write good pop songs. I just wish he wrote better lyrics and didn't sing in a silly voice.

                    • Naive and the new single

are sound pretty good to these ears. They're really catchy and manage to be pleasent dispite his obvious lack of vocal talent. Bloody awful live from what I heard on the radio though.
