You with the Kooks, Mr Diver with Keane - why is it that people heavily involved with DiS are helping to perpetuate the myth that you have to ask if it's OK to like something or not? Puff your chest out, be bold! :)
"oh no, i like something which is a) disliked by a large amount of people and b) considered as mainstream. WHAT SHALL I DO>??!??!?"
this is what you should do: listen to songs that you like. do not obscure your passions for the sake of looking cool.
and certainly don't whine on messageboards about how you like something that's doing well with 'the nme crowd'.
guh.
it's because as a doorway or gateway band, y'know those first bands that 'get you' that i'm shocked they're actually not rubbish and that the songs have gone from nigglingly addictive and being everywhere to me feeling like i wanna listen to their album. havent got as far as buying the album tho and i know i'll end up buying something else instead.
are sound pretty good to these ears. They're really catchy and manage to be pleasent dispite his obvious lack of vocal talent. Bloody awful live from what I heard on the radio though.
Because liking the kooks =
DEAD INSIDE
hahaha
i've just added their album to my mp3 player!
it's ok
i like the new lostprophets album
You
bad bad man :P
they're really great songs
it's just a shame that the lyrics are utter, utter shit
theyre ok
I like the Automatic - or is that pushing my luck a bit?
automatic..
nope. just because of that 'monster' song.
I think the Kooks are ok
talented people.
i actually went to see tham last year
and the boy can really sing. and there's something about their love songs i simply can't resist. yep, i like them.
>Why does loving an undeniable pop hook equate to guilt?
It doesn't.

DiSgraceful innit

I STUCK IT TO THE MAN!!

"oh no, i like something which is a) disliked by a large amount of people and b) considered as mainstream. WHAT SHALL I DO>??!??!?"

I've basically been saying that for the past million years! BARGH.s
At last some sense!
no guilt to have...
But the Kooks are awful !!!
some of the people
on this thread are scaring me.
they're not that bad
i find them especially annoying as i can't seem to escape them, they seem to be everywhere.
i think
it's because as a doorway or gateway band, y'know those first bands that 'get you' that i'm shocked they're actually not rubbish and that the songs have gone from nigglingly addictive and being everywhere to me feeling like i wanna listen to their album. havent got as far as buying the album tho and i know i'll end up buying something else instead.
Not really really bad...
just dispiritingly average.
I also.
I think they're nicely good.
They're VERY annoying
but write good pop songs. I just wish he wrote better lyrics and didn't sing in a silly voice.
i've got this
stuck in my head now :(
lostprophets = kooks?
?
i've lost track
i have never heard "Naive"
But their new one is annoyingly catchy....
:(
how is that possible?
i must have heard it (involuntarily) about 50 times.
Simple
I don't listen to the radio.
nor do i...
or watch much music
on channel 4. Or any channel for that matter...
i've heard it
in shops, on tv, in bars, in clubs... maybe 50 was an exageration but it's quite a few.
i see
well i'm underage.
and...
my housemate has just started playing it...
haha
I think
I've only heard one Kooks song, it sounded like Cast
Naive and the new single
are sound pretty good to these ears. They're really catchy and manage to be pleasent dispite his obvious lack of vocal talent. Bloody awful live from what I heard on the radio though.
It's the backlash against the backlash
Much like Keane!
i still don't like Keane
whos up for a backlash against the backlash of the backlash?
yus
for both keane and kooks.
i think this thread should go in the news section
"drowned in sound in crisis"
! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !
I was going to post this! It's not that I 'like' them per se, but I've found myself singing along to TWO of their songs in recent weeks
I admire your bravery*
*not THE Bravery, you understand
Ah but you were telling
me, only the other day, how much you adore "An Honest Mistake" by The Bravery :oP
Ban request
You scorpion woman!
what was that other one they did?
it was good.
i think it had speedboats in the video?
oh, no.
i think it was called 'unconditional'.
THAT was a tune.
I think
sean is ready to sell DiS to bob geldof now...
