Not really Radiohead standards in my opinion.
It's like a bunch of Kid A b-sides. But very good b-sides.
again, not as good as Radiohead, but still a fucking great album. Cymbal Rush, and the title track are worth it on its own. That's if you're buying it.....
'Under The Iron Sea'
and google suggest informed me that there are 8350 results for "under the iron bridge we kissed". which warms the heart on a grey monday morning.
but I don't think it's very exciting or new. sort of what one would expect from him and considering how brilliant so much of his work is, I was a bit let down. Esp with the lyrics. "I'm fucked up, fucked up" ehhhh
that's pretty bunk
inasmuch as they're much more direct. i generally like radiohead's lyrics but it's interesting to see him do something much more concise lyrically... it doesn't have to be flowery or willfully abstract to make an intelligent impact.
and i really really do like that song. pretty much my favourite on the record i think.
re its simplistic approach but think the album on the whole is pretty ace.
It does contain "Black Swan" which is a majestic piece of work and something of Radiohead quality.
'tis very stark and brooding. reminds me a lot of the radiohead track where i end and you begin.
feels like tunes and ideas he has been sitting on for a while, rather than anything fresh.
probably worth buying tho
quite impressed, some tracks are not as brilliant as you would expect from thom yorke though.
however, harrowdown hill may possibly the best song of the year so far. really great.
the leak is missing a couple of seconds from the start and end of each song i believe.
It's a great continuation of that Kid A / Amnesiac style, but for me it was too much like songs from those albums. I was expecting from a solo album something much more challenging, something he couldn't have done with Radiohead... something more 'Warp'.
The Eraser, Black Swan and Atoms for Peace are all fantastic. Get it but don't expect to be blown away.
