Indoubtably. For that siren, and for sheer rocking-outness.
But the Iron Man riff is great.
Sabbra Cadabra starts amazingly, then turns to shiiiiit.
Screw you Wakeman!!!!
Sweet Leaf is probably my favourite. Master of Reality is probably my favourite album overall.
although the disco song off Sabbath Bloody Sabbath is pretty smellin'.
is pretty amazing. Planet Caravan is hella good too.
I have been playing it/listening to it/watching youtube videos of it all day! Hand of Doom is a goodun too, as is Black Sabbath. WHAT IS THIS...THAT STANDS BEFORE MEEEE
children of the motherfucking grave
the first four sabs albums are so hook filled and great its unbelievable, and when i saw them they were absolutely amazing.
start a Sabbath thread, you beat me to it. Too many great songs to decide, but I'm currently listening to The Warning and its sounding class. Best album? I like the first.
Symptom Of The Universe
One of the most influental bands ever ?
isnt that their ONLY song ? Not like they have any others....
apart from the quite ridiculous lyrics, but that comes with the turf really.
Black Sabbath itself still gets me, along with War Pigs' Neolithic riffs. Thems boys gots tunes,
Master of Reality is actually the best album of all time.
So: Children of the grave. Or Solitude.
Nah, fuck that. Sabbath bloody sabbath.
also includes After Forever and Into The Void.Surely two of the best ever Sabbath songs.
There's absolutely nothing wrong with that album. NOTHING.
Have you heard Soundgarden's note perfect cover of Into the Void? Awesome stuff.
to have passed me by somehow.
15 years ago, so I'll let you off.
seem to have done Sabbath covers.
I've got a whole album of them (Nativity in Black)
The best on that are Cathedral's version of Solitude (actually better than the original I reckon), 1,000 Homo DJ's (Al Jourgenson/Trent Reznor) Supernaut, and Children of the Grave (White Zombie).
Sepultura doing Symptom Of The Universe when i saw them live years ago(also Motorheads Orgasmatron)
Cathedral's Solitude is gorgeous. 1000 Homo DJs doing Supernaut is also better than the original. And Biohazard do good things with After Forever.
There's a Nativity in Black II, with some more mainstream metal bands. SOAD's Snowblind, Pantera's Electric Funeral and Static-X's Behind the Wall of Sleep are all worth a listen, for various reasons.
...relace the lyrics to Into The Void with some speech by a famous native american?
The Wizard and Supernaut.
on "I Ain't Goin' Out Like That", I believe.
I seem to remember Elbow (I think?) doing a very respectable cover of it on TV a few years back.
written about Geezer Butler's (wotaname!) beard?!? i swear i remember hearing something like that. They used to smoke eachother's beards as well! i love Sabbath.
Spiral Architect and Wicked World are both damn near flawless.
...is so-called because Ozzy accused Geezer Butler of having a beard that looked like a pen nib. Class.
