I'm not sure where this has come from, but I see no difference in this Keane song than I do with any of their others. In fact, it's posibly even worse. This is confusing me.
Are we speaking about the right "new" Keane song? "Atlantic"?
havent heard atlantic. is it any wonder made me feel ill. his fat face rocking out was like having an old drunk man rubbing his fat sweaty belly in my face whilst listening to status quo.
I'm not too keen (sorry!) on Keane but what the hell does his weight have to do with anything?
For one thing, whilst he's not some skinny-arse like a lot of indie singers, he's at worst mildly overweight rather than 'fat' and secondly, so what if he was? Does that have any bearing on his musical ability? Do you feel people should pass a looks test before having the right to make music? Would you be happy about people assessing your 'appropriateness' to do whatevcer job you do or aspire to do based purely on your looks? If so that's very disturbing.
In a world where there's so much pressure on people to conform to a certain look, I find this kind of comment rather silly and extremely troubling in its connotations.
and the new album is very 'Keane'. I mean they havent done anything different apart from the use of that effects pedal. I mean its all good but a change in direction for a few songs might have been nice.
..the fact that somebody once shouted at me in a pub "Oi! I know you! You're that bloke from Keane! Go on mate, sing us a song!" is absolutely, completely and entirely irrelavent.
and no. I don't believe I am either fat or unloved.
As discussed countless time on other threads, there is a lot wrong with Keane. It's just that I think this can more likely be traced back to their MOR blandness and inability to commit to actually saying anything in their lyrics rather than the facial characteristics of the lead singer.
so what? no need to be coy about it.
both singles off this album have been quite good. actually, they're not a bad band. obviously doing absolutely nothing revolutionary, but they're okay.
It really isn't

they have two songs??
I'm with bamos - 'is it any wonder' is the usual trite output and I really odnt uderstand why it's been greeted with any acclaim at all
The one that's been on telly recently?
The single currently in the charts? I don't know what it's called. That's what I class as new though.
Oh yeah, "Is It Any Wonder?" is awful in my opinion but there's a second single I'm talking about.
theres
a video for Atlantic and Is It Any Wonder? but Atlantic wasnt released i think it was just an internet video thingy
urgh
havent heard atlantic. is it any wonder made me feel ill. his fat face rocking out was like having an old drunk man rubbing his fat sweaty belly in my face whilst listening to status quo.
I like Is It Any Wonder
but I've not seen the video, I think if I did then it would shatter the illusion and I'd realise that it really is Keane
This kind of thing annoys me a bit...

agreed

well yes
but his face is fat. its out of proportion. it's like a killer whale perched on top of a twig.
Still not seeing the relevance.
.
sense of humour failure?
I'd hardly call it a sense of humour failure...
...but kudos for a well-considered and carefully thought-through response.
That'd take someone having said somethng witty, orginal and clever and me failing to find it funny. That's not what happened i this scenario.
I can't be bothered to get into an argument about this. I've made all my points on my above post.
I just don't think you should dismiss Keane on account of their looks. Certainly not when there's so many more reasons to dismiss them.
Oh and incidentally..
..the fact that somebody once shouted at me in a pub "Oi! I know you! You're that bloke from Keane! Go on mate, sing us a song!" is absolutely, completely and entirely irrelavent.
*Goes and hides his head in shame*
Are you saying this because you are yourself a fat unloved person?
A touch personal there, Brainlove!!!
and no. I don't believe I am either fat or unloved.

Why do people find this such a confusing point?
cos once someone is clearly a victim,
as he is, for making crap music, its easier to slag them off for their looks than their music
so, you like a keane song.
so what? no need to be coy about it.

okay, i wrote that halfway through listening to 'atlantic'
and then it didn't really go anywhere. so in retrospect it's not really that great.
'is it any wonder' is alright though.
for the record:
i still hate Keane and all they stand for! They need to be more artfag for me. haw. The new video makes me dizzy.
