or Stereotypes or Mr Robinson's Quango.
Or Crazy Beat.
This. Especially Topman
I would say Song 2.
I find Parklife really hard to listen to these days. My least favourite Blur songs - 'Jubilee' and 'Magic America' - are both on there, for one thing, and they're both terrible mockney twaddle.
Although it might be because I grew up with them and they're pat of my Childhood.
That's one of my favourites.
Probably Mr Robinson's Quango, yes.
... actually, most of Leisure and The Great Escape.
blur genes. Not blue jeans.
crazy beat probably...
anything that Norman Cook's disgusting hands went anywhere near
...is shocking and should never have been upt on that album. Bleurgh!
It sounds totally out of place. FOR SHAME, BLUR.
ruined that album.
I wasn't so keen on beetlebum, but live it was fantastic.
tracy jacks has fallen right out of my favour lately though, so its that and crazy beat (why oh why oh why did they bother with it?)
of the self-titled one from 1997.
Boring as sin.
the extra one on the best of.
That's not a bad song, to be fair...
worked really well.
also, i said "last year". i WISH. clearly meant 2003..
I particularly dislike M.O.R. for being a direct lift of Boys Keep Swinging.
really. What a shitty album. There are two perhaps three decent tracks on there. The rest sound all the same, some undigested soup of pointless sound. It's like they forgot to actually care about what they were doing. It made me angry when in first listened to it.
The tracks I like are Song 2, Beetlebum and Chinese Bombs.
Blur forgetting to care about what they were doing was called The Great Escape.
I thought the problem with TGE was that they were trying too hard. Still quite a few lovely songs though.
it was the first time there was no real "leap" in their sound between albums.
i would guess it was somewhere in the middle of the album being rushed and of them being afraid to change anything - after all, Parklife was the first time they'd actually had any success.
but if you watch the Showtime video that was recorded just before the album came out, they look bored of it all then...
i like the s/t album, but then it is very much a Graham Coxon record, isn't it?
sorry it really irritates me...
Still love it. The good bits of The Great Escape were actually better - Fade Away, Best Days, He Thought Of Cars - it's just that there was some clunkers on it. Country House is actually a good tune - it's just THOSE lyrics and THAT video. Look at Graham's face in the video and tell me how he lasted another 8/9 years.
