Anyone seen them on their current tour? Going to Brighton tonight. Very excited.
It's gonna be ACE.
got a ticket for Brighton as I hate the Astoria THAT much but I'm going to ATP tomorrow now so another reason to go tonight.
And Brighton Concorde is pretty.
It's round and fun. And sometimes has GAY nights. And I am GAY.
is always dreadful though. and £3.30 for a CAN OF CARLING. FUCK RIGHT OFF!
G-A-Y is fun.
really, a great bill.
in London : (
He sounds great too. Damn.
is DeVotchKa and Bang On!
Bang On! sound er, interesting.
"Bang On! are an energetic junk percussion duo who, using a
homemade drum kit, play funky beats and rhythmic treats
whilst putting on an outstanding visual display of technique
but Thomas Truazx is supporting do not miss him - he is tremendous!!!
in sheffield on sunday and they were great.
Brain hurt his wrist, so the last few songs were just amanda, but it was still great
and Devotchka were pretty damn cool as well
I'm all excited now. Not seen them since Glastonbury where they stole the show.
when did gigs like this start selling out???
I'll call you when we see them and leave you a voicemail!
I may even call you tonight at Mudhoney!
expect them returned on saturday. and definitely on thursday...
were ace in manchester. i wish i could go see them again.
bang on are indeed interesting and worth getting there early to see. if you like drums made of stuff.
also devotchka were pretty impressive, kind of jolly russian polka rock thing with a big euphonium (? or something?) and double bass. they made me smile.
I only have one place :(
I am now officially more excited if possible
in Edinburgh last week. It was brilliant. They did a great extended intro bit to Half Jack.
...usually. I would have to dispute their aceness in Sheffield. They were obviously tired as hell, and dropped two (three?) songs, plus Brian decided not to grace us with his presence for the encore. That boy can really throw his toys out of the pram.
Hope you get a good show though.
i don't really think he was throwing his toys out of the pram! I was standing right in front of him and it was obivous by his face that he was in A LOT of pain!
For the record, the setlist i got suggests they dropped girl anachronism (was i was a little pissed off about)and pierre, with dirty business and truce as encore. But we did get deliah instead, and that's a fucking great song!
I'm surprised he could play Half Jack like that if his wrist was seriously hurt, and it was apparently perfectly okay 48 hours later in Birmingham. He was obviously pretty unhappy from the moment they arrived on stage and kept moaning and stalling well before he started whispering to Amanda, and she announced his "injury". And yeah, how long does it take to say: "I've hurt my wrist"? I wish I could lip-read.
I just got the disctinct impression he didn't want to be there.
looks like i'll have to try and tout the astoria gig, and i'm waiting for the new album to arrive in the post which will not be before tomorrow, but the new sogns i've heard so far are outstanding!
I's a manificent album. I do love them really.
was amazing. I agree with everything you say, espcially the bit about the girls who talked all the way through. Last I checked I din't pay to listen to them talk really LOUDLY so they could hear each other over the band. Do you think it was the same girls or were we in a room full of irritating people who go to gigs to be seen?
Didn't spoil it though as they were fantatsic. The reaction they got from most of the crowd was great as well, don't think I've ever seen a more ecstatic bunch.
it was nice to see everyone being so up for it. Nice to get out of the hipster-driven London gig scene for a night too.
'Half jack' was utterly amazing.
this tonight now. Good work guys.

Meeting up before?
Meeting Ann for dinner.
Then meeting Raz in Crobar before heading in!
Let's go for PIEDER.
Are you going for sushi?
I bet you're going for sushi.
Although now you've mentioned Sushi I want that!
I've arranged to meet Raz in Crobar but once I meet him I'll drag him towards Wetherspoons!
I think one of you should have my number... gimme a text or something.
Isn't the fabulous FAMOS coming too?
was rather good
but that cover of hallelujah was horrendous.
the girl doing acrobatics pre-dresden dolls was AWESOME.
It was so uneccesary. At least do something different with it if you're going to cover probably the most over-covered song of the last 20 years...
The "Oh What A World" cover with Devotchka was good, mind.
Thomas Truax was interesting enough but the sound was awful
I didn't think much of Devotchka, sounded very Eurovisiony
Dolls were very good
And the Future Cinema stuff in the upstairs bar was ace
I agree with all of that, a good good night :D
Apart from all the talking in the crowd...?
They were fantastic, with Violent Femmes, Black Sabbath and T-rex all being covered. Some annoying girls were talking throughout it mind, and when someone asked them to be quiet they laughed in her face. Twats.
