I only have 'Things We Lost In The Fire', it's great but what should I get next of theirs?
And the 3 CD box-set for their cover of 'I started a joke'...
get them all, but my faves are:
I Could Live In Hope
Oh forget it - every one of their records is really great!
the last one and trust too much...
And I'm a BIG fan from way back.
I can see why you'd say that - the last 2 have had something of a different quality than their previous -I find Trust a bit heavy going at times... but still great great albums IMHO.
are doing this kind of music better now for me...
I actually agree with Lyle to some extent. I didn't really like Trust so much, there's something about the production that annoys me. It seems too polished compared to Secret Name (which I love).
Early Day Miners, Rivulets, Savoy Grand, Last Harbour, Barzin, Arco...
I may have to check these out - better than Low - I don't belieeeeve it!
Only Codeine and Galaxie 500 may be in that league.
But doing the slow-core thing better than Low are doing it NOW ! YES ! ( IMHO anyway...) Check Broken Dog, Tram, Jessica Bailiff and Anna Kashfi too...
I'll check those bands out.
to barzin last night.
he reminds me a bit of gravenhurst except a touch more eerie...
that's a whole lot of eerie.
i need to hear this now.
Gravenhurst's last LP was brilliant, but then it sounded a bit like Neu! in parts and i really love krautrock so i'm biased.
i didn't think it was possible either.
maybe ethereal is a better word for it. i dunno.
listen to the album - 'tis great.
And Paris too ( with Jenniferever ! )
I'm so going ( if it isn't already sold out...)
the gravenhurst album...
Much too expensive here !
Long Division easily. Things We Lost is not one of my favs but ok I guess, Great Destroyer is also awesome, but different.
is my second favourite...
First time i saw them they were touring it...
Gosh i'm feeling old !
have you heard the collaboration Low did with Pan American? Low singing against downtempo electronica, one of my favourite songs.. check it out, it's called Code http://www.epitonic.com/artists/panamerican.html
but forgot to check it...
Too many things !
i can now go and see Barzin in London. Anyone ever been to the Betsey Trotswood before?
Barzin is more slowcore, whereas Gravenhurst has a more folky edge.. both quite haunting though.
