love music hate racism
just got back from the love music hate racism rally in trafalgar square. for those not familiar - it was basically an anti-bnp protest with guest speakers and urban and indie music.
predictably pete doherty managed not to show...apparently due to being arrested earlier in the day...however babyshambles' guitarist did come on and play a singalong version of 'albion' for the crowd.
best performance was lethal bizzle, even played his 22 grand job remix. getcape.wearcape.fly also sounded great. i also enjoyed the paddingtons - although they seem to be about as popular as cancer on this site...
boy kill boy pumped out some generic indie rock that the nme are probably creaming themselves over...very dull. however belle and sebastian rounded off a great day with some classics that got the crowd moving...
one band deserving of a special warning were 'trafalgar'. im hoping they were formed just for the day (what with the gig being in trafalgar square). imagine a 16year old libertines tribute band playing songs without a semblence of structure or tune. which made it even more amusing when the "singer" had his hat and glasses stolen by the crowd. avoid at all costs!!
