my favourite live band of 2005...
though they do look amazing. the drummer = ROCK
Playing for a fucking hour. It was fantastic and eclipsed February, which I didn't think would be likely.
for both this and Silver Jews, I was a bit gutted when I realised they were on the same night. There was never any chance of me missing The Silver Jews - see the other thread - I kinda thought I'd get the chance to see Battles again soon.
Did they play new stuff?
Sometimes it's difficult to say whether they're just messing around or whether it's a new track, but I think they played one newie last night.
Theo's right, though, it was definitely better than the February gig - maybe the best I've seen them.
I sort of thought that but often I've realised it they're playing versions of the 'transitional short tracks on the EPs.
There was at least one new track last night I thought. With an almost Latino sort of rhythm to it. There might have been another. The only thing I don't own is the Tras single. I know Tras but not 'Fantasy' so I can't remember how many tracks I wasn't sure of they played.
supporting Animal Collective.
Maybe I should have posted my Muse comment: http://www.drownedinsound.com/content/view/794510#
phenomenal. they're so incredibly consistent it's almost dissapointing.
they played one new track last night, and tyondai braxton was adding a lot of vox to some of the tracks. i have to say well done to the sound guys because the sound was absolutely crisp...
I'm glad you enjoyed!
You seemed really pumped up after it!
Although I have to say I loved The Most Serene Republic - they were outstanding!
So I don't feel bad about missing Battles!
i was a bit drunk when i saw you.
i hadn't eaten all day. so being a drunken prick that i am, i bought some really shit southern fried chicken from near my house. just couldn't help myself, tainting the night with some crap food...
It was only the second time i'd been to dingwalls - but the sound both times has been really good both times.
Wish more people could take their lead.
(asuming this is Dingwalls having good sound as a rule)
not enough gigs at Dingwalls... I really like it
You appear to be able to see the band from pretty much anywhere too.
In fact can't EVERY gig be there - it's pretty ace.
wouldn't surprise me because sum41 supported battles last night
was suppose to be after TheoGB's comment
