    Er... no.

The Cribs are a quirky shambles of the joy of creating music, tripping over british eccentrism... it's just cheeky sweet indie-rock.

Whereas the Strokes are a bland band who repeat loops of the same sounds like mind-numbing dance music, which has had enough production work to make the songs passable/mediocre enough for tv and radio, whilst people who buy their records are more interested in buying into their image.

can you see the huge influence The Strokes have had on the Cribs though, bass lines, drums???

It's such a good image though. they are still the coolest band on the planet (hmm.. that sounded very nme...)

The Cribs remind me of Dogs Die in Hot Cars a bit. but i like The Cribs better.

        they do.
i can hear it on several tracks.
        and especially in the vocals.
and before you start - i like the the strokes.

this thread bemuses me.i see very few similarities between the two bands.when i heard 'You were always the one' i thought of a mix of Idlewild(in the vocals) and a sort of low production Ash.i suppose you could suggest that the low production levels mimics the strokes but very little else does.
i dont understand why the strokes are the most consistently slagged off of all the "new rock revolution" bands.they at least have some sense of melody especially when compared with the consistently tedious drone made by the datsuns (2 chord wonders),jet and (zzz) brmc.
glad ive vented my spleen (does it have an h in it?).
