young, mental, energetic, fun, ballsy.
i like them.
the album lives up to the promise that the preceeding singles bought.
isn't quite as immediate and catchy as the singles. I love it though.
Plus it has a song about a zombie apocalypse = AWESOMENESS.
but i saw them live on friday and they were impressive. however, i don't think they'll have much more to offer... nevertheless, they played well, made us laugh, were mental to watch.
until Adventure came out. thats INCREDIBLE.
two songs, one i didnt like and adventure which i like a lot, but i have been told its their best song by far, true?
its a bit same old, but its pure mental.
If nme.com's good for one thing, it has the whole album available for streaming.
Listening to it now.
And it RAAAWKS.
Will probably buy this at some point.
they're ace, although i don't understand all the hype because they're exactly like a million other really super fun young american punk bands.
is that it captures the energy of their live shows. It squeals and thrashes and is over in about half an hour. Aceness!
awful on record
jemima was sick on stage a few times, mopped it up with a towel and threw it into the crowd, NME put her in the cool list for this and went on about it like it was oh-so rock 'n' roll.
Quite frankly if that had hit me in the face I would not be impressed at all, especially when your at a festival so you cant properly wash.
Was anyone at their gig at the bowling alley in london a couple of weeks back?
"HEY! Don't touch my butt! My butt is not yours to touch!"
Brilliant. They are fun. Like pulling your little sisters mates.
Hehe, FUN. Yes :)
but i REALLY like that song 'adventure'. hmmm. i might get the album. most of my music collection is so serious, i need a hot fun injection.
but I'm also inclined to think that instead of buying their album, I should buy the Yeah Yeah Yeahs first album, which I think would be the same but better.
Totally different. Like comparing Bad Brains and Fugazi. Get them both.
but from what I've heard of both bands it does generally sound like the existence of BYOP is a direct consequence of YYY's success.
You shouldn't really put much weight in my opinion on this though, I like what I've heard but I've not delved too deeply into either band.
