Saturday is consumed by a fifteen pound sonic surf around Stokes Croft – last year’s all-dayer as bolstered by yet more venues and international acts, specially commissioned workshops, a free dedicated art zone at John Wesley Chapel and yet more unkempt secrets to stumble on.
Leading the musical charge are Berlin’s venomous avant-punk vixens COBRA KILLER, Turkish Oriental dub massive BABA ZULA (exclusive UK performance), GRAHAM MASSEY (808 STATE, BJORK) with his crazed communal prog ensemble TOOLSHED and LA’s sunken pop whiz kid ARIEL PINK among a pantheon of over 50 pan-global performers, DJs, artists and mischief-makers – not to mention 87.7 Venn FM broadcasting throughout the weekend – all jumbled together across the area’s finest venues, art spaces and unlikely crannies to see what magic comes from the mess. Welcome. Now get lost.

SUNDAY - TONY ALLEN + THE MITCHELL BROTHERS + EUROS CHILDS + NORTH SEA NAVIGATOR + DJ JOHN STAPLETON + very very VENN guests
Sunday sees the climactic roast at The Trinity Centre: Venn loosens up its limbs to the immersive afro-drum epiphanies of the legendary TONY ALLEN. He of Fela Kuti, the back bone of Afro-Beat and the one that has just released a career high band album on Honest Jon’s. Bandleader, composer and husky rapping vocalist, Tony Allen has recorded a string of groundbreaking that draw together African rhythm, funk, jazz, soul and hip hop. But now after two decades of fusion adventures, Tony has come home, returning to his roots playing serious modern Nigerian music from his Lagos No Shaking album.
Tony Allen’s enormous band is joined in support by those debonair show-stealing hip hop mates of Mike Skinner (The Streets) THE MITCHELL BROTHERS playing unconventionally skewed, popped and grimed British street music with a wry sense of British-ness.Then there's the organ led Welsh eccentro-pop of EUROS CHILDS (Gorky's Zygotic Mynci's fabulous singer) and added musical movements from some super special friends to be confirmed. Savour the flavour: Venn will be gone again tomorrow.
