Unexplainable adored lyrics

MirriLondon [Edit] [Delete] 33 replies 23:47, 13 April '06

'time is like a broken watch, they make money like fred astaire'.

Interpol, take you on a cruise. Absolutely no idea why I love it but it always makes me smile and gives me a warm feeling all over.

Am I weird or do other people experience this?

  • It's

    "Timeless like a broken watch"

Not that that makes it any clearer.

  • One of my favourit rhyming couplets

'Your face is pale like dough,
    You leave me in woe'

    • ...

"Loafing oafs in all night chemists,
Loafing oafs in all night chemists.."
      inexplicably, always brings me joy.

      • Oh crap

at mis-hearing that lyric. Repeatedly. I'm terrible with lyrics. "Love. A reaction to some soft skin".

I like that Mr JD. Where's it from?

The co-writer of 'Woe' - no longer in the Cannanes - has a myspace too; he's the legendary David Nichols

  • Ok

I'll check it out. I just clicked on your profile and you appear to have an OBSCENE amount of bands listed. Is music your oxygen?

    MirriLondon | 14 Apr '06, 00:25 | X
    • No

I'm just old so the list gets longer

      Mr_JDTraynor @MirriLondon | 14 Apr '06, 00:26 | X
      • And you also repeat yourself in your old age

        • Where?

          Mr_JDTraynor @Browno | 14 Apr '06, 00:30 | X
          • In your list

Some appear twice. Yannis Kyriakes being, for some reason, the one I noticed.

            Browno @Mr_JDTraynor | 14 Apr '06, 00:31 | X
            • Fixed

The entire list was there twice

      • right...

But why have you only rated three groups on DiS?

        MirriLondon @Mr_JDTraynor | 14 Apr '06, 00:27 | X
        • That's

          because of "technical issues"

          Mr_JDTraynor @MirriLondon | 14 Apr '06, 00:30 | X
          • Ahhhh

i see. I can't for the life of me suss out how to get my picture on my profile. Where's the darned 'help' page? :(

  • .

"Well we're just a wet dream for the webzines,
Make us it, make us hip, make us scene."

I don't adore it, but I haven't seen much about them in many webzines...

  • On the subject of Interpol

I've always loved the lyrics in "Not Even Jail" despite a lack of understanding of what, if anything, they're about.

Especially "we all hold hands, can we all hold friends when we make new friends"

PS I always thought it was "Time is like a broken watch" too!

    • I'm always lost in thought

as I walk a block to my favourite neon sign.

      • Most of interpol's lyrics

don't make much sense - maybe that's why I like the so much.

        MirriLondon @spencerTron | 15 Apr '06, 20:26 | X
        • I like...

          "Now that everybody's here
Could we please have your attention?
There is nothing left to fear
No now that bigfoot is captured"

          I_Are_Scientist @MirriLondon | 15 Apr '06, 21:55 | X
          • My favourite Interpol lyric is Roland

"My best friends a butcher he has sixteen knives,
He carries them all over the town at least he tries."

And then randomly out of nowhere...

            "Look its stopped snowing."

            Genius

            Azzy @I_Are_Scientist | 16 Apr '06, 02:12 | X

            • Let's not

turn this into an Interpol thread, although I do adore them.

              Lyric/band. Let's have them.
