Anyone going to the Newcastle gig tonight?
I was going to but I can't afford it really. There are too many mint gigs next week up here.
They definitely have enough great songs to play an absolutely class set. I hope they do! Enjoy!
at Southampton as well. If the Magnificents are supporting, try and avoid them like the plague
ils sont tres gentil.
Went to Liverpool last night here are some thoughts:
Mogwai are wonderful, almost like a greatest hits set for me, lots of stuff of CODY and they played like herod which made me very happy.
They played lots of very short songs which was quite refreshing but odd.
At the end they looped noise so loudly thought i was gonna have a heart attack and my girlfriend almost started panicing. Throughout the gig a girl next to us kept collapsing whenever the distortion kicked in and another girl kept getting sick, it was like an indie vietnam.
The magnificents (if it was them, they didnt say their name or say anything to the crowd)are one of the worst bands ive ever seen including loads of shit local band. Its like all the worst bits of the eighties sucked into a charisma-free hideous mess of synth noises and shit vocals. All the dynamics of a drill. Frustrating, when you know mogwai could have chosen a great support act.
People shouldn't turn up to mogwai gigs and talk loudly. Why did you pay £14 to talk through all the quiet bits?? hmmm?Cunts
Are they are on mogwai's label or summat? are they scottish? not sure...
they got a shit reception in Liverpool...the one thing they said was "this is our last song" and that got a really big cheer, oops.
Don't ever like to hugely critisize bands but eeee gads.....
played with Mogwai on more than one occasion even before this tour, at ICA and in Glasgow. I suspect there is a SECRET.
a band called Rosco supporting mogwai on previous tours?? whatever happened to them?
sicking everywhere narrowly missed my trousers. There was also a duck-like woman to the left who kept asking 'who are these again?'. She was ugly, and drunk.
I say godamn.
Shellac live, they are consistently one of the best bands I have ever seen, and seen again and again. They sound like metal - not Metal, but actual scraping metal and tis quite lovely. Will be good to hear them at the Albert Hall. (Yes, I have a ticket)
please announce some dates that aren't London this time Shellac.
