Really something very special.
I've had 'Segundo' since summer (thanks to a DiS mix cd) and it's one of those strange albums that's really only itself. It doesn't fit in with anything else.
The new one 'Son' is great too. More abstract than anything else she's done. These strange washes of voice and guitar and synth and these unconnected bits of percussion that manage to be completely avant-garde and strangely catchy at the same time.
It's dreamlike, in that you can't imagine, given how unusual the song-structures are, how she managed to piece it together. Playing all the instruments at the same time straight from her subconscious seems to be the only possible way.
Wonderful.
If you want a lazy journalistic soundbite style description then lets say, erm... bjork and boards of canada producing an album spanish folk covers of scott walker (circa 'tilt').
