Which vinyl is worth me buying?
Now one that goes on both speeds!
there aren't any good record shops in watford
and a quick service to the centre of town, where there are gazillions.
a good record shop in St Albans and that's even nearer!
to St Albans
to look for records. I was looking for some friendly advice on any vinyl which had songs which i couldn't get elsewhere. But if you're all going to be difficult you can leave me be.
record collection it makes me want to buy a record player. But then I think it'd be a waste of money.
As Maddox would say - am I right or what?
to buy pretty things on vinyl
My record collection is my pride and joy. Mmmm, 7" singles.
What's currently on your turn-table that you can recommend highly...? :D
I've found this wonderful single by a band called the Fog Band. Heard of them? Some ruffian in Camden foisted it upon me while I was quietly being incredibly drunk, and lo and behold, it's a little beauty.
I recommend you find out where you can get it. I recommend hanging around areas of ill repute, to see if this wandering ruffian walks past and gives you a copy for free....
One hair out of place and my reputation is in tatters...
I could only see them for £50 - the Bush one. It rocks, though.
what i was asking:
Are there any vinyl records which have something that make them worth buying over the CD version? ie. extra-good artwork, extra tracks...
the vinyl comes with a free "5inch accessory" ie the cd of the album
and the bullet union album has an extra track on the vinyl
and Double Nickels On The Dime by Minutemen has 2 extra tracks on the vinyl
i can't put it on my mp3 player and carry it everywhere I go.
mp3s for practicality, vin
vinyl for prettiness/supporting the artist/"experience".
and if you dont know what i mean by "experience", i pity you.
Whether you'll actually like them or not is another matter. But you asked.
Veruca Salt - American Thighs
S*M*A*S*H - (I really can't remember the title right now. GAH)
Velocity Girl - Simpatico
I think Sufjan Stevens has an extra track on the LP, and Definitely Maybe LP contains 'Sad Song'. True story.
think the sufjan stevens thing has an extra side on vinyl...maybe three tracks or something. I've got it somewhere...
For records see- boot sale, charity shops, junk shops.
I got a semi nice haul at the boot sale yesterday.
I like my CDs for all kinds of reasons.
Vinyl sounds identical to CDs to me until it gets crackly and fucked up afer a few plays.
I make my MP3s by directly recording from the record player, cutting out all the peaks with some hard limiting and normalising and then save them at 192.
Who has time to play records?
I've got a massive collection of records, including stuff from as far back as the early fifties that still sounds totally mint/clear.
The only way they sound crackly after a couple of plays is if you don't treat them right.
any good exclusively vinyl records?
"Halsa Dem Dar Hemma : Swedish Folk and Sacred Songs" by Orley Eastlund
There's lots of 45's that you can't find on CD.....
hip hop singles
all reasons to buy vinyl.
there's so much music exclusive to vinyl you really are missing out without a record player.
