that someone started a thread about saying it was racist?
and it was a version of Get Back with different lyrics. never heard it.
adressing the lyrics to immigrants.
and paul basically wrote it about yoko to tell her to go back to japan. because he's a cunt.
It was a version of "Get Back" with anti-immigrant lyrics.
The general feeling is that it was satirical (The Beatles, of course, famously spent a lot of time in India and struck up a friendship with Ravi Shankar, while Enoch Powell hated their "Jungle music", and John Lennon obviously married a Vietnamese woman so it's pretty unlikely that it was intended as racist) but nonetheless it sounds pretty bad soon.
I'm pretty sure Paul didn't write it about Yoko as, if he had, I doubt John would have agreed to performing it. I think Jamie may be confusing that with the story (which may be true) that when the Beatles recorded the album version of "Get Back" he deliberately stared at Yoko whenever he sang "Get Back to Where You Once Belonged"
I wrote my name instead of a subject.
Now everyone's gonna wonder why that post has such a bizarre subject title!
called 'No Pakistanis' recored during Let It Be/Get Back Sessions in '69.
at a time when enoch powell was all over the news after the 'rivers of blood' speech. probably just reflecting on a topical subject at that time.
That "Hey Jew" song was out of order too.
Sorry, I posted his name instead o a title. Anyway... apart from re-workings of the actual songs, everyone looks into Beatles songs, but basically there's no higher meaning than twee love songs and gobshite babble from when they were off their heads.
Beatles are great but way overrated. FACTOID.
I feel I'm being mocked for my stupidity. Which is fair enough. And Mocked by Moker has a ring to it (Maybe it could be a new TV show?)
Anyway the Beatles are of course great and over-rated. I don't think their lyrics are necessarily "gobshite babble" (and some are quite witty and touching) but certainly they don't hold the key to the secrets of the universe as some people seem to wrongly assume.
Certainly the Beatles were way better (and had much less pretentious twaddle) than Lennon's solo stuff. Not that McCartney's was necessarily better but at least people seem to acknowledge his weaknesses.
my favourite album is 'revolver'.
and thus a new in-joke was born
lucy in the sky with diamonds (from seirra leone, procured by taking advantage of native workers, paying them poorly for dangerous work in poor conditions)?
