Who is it? I'm going to see them in Wolves on Friday and wondered who it is.
That Error band are poop.
anyone who witnesses The Magnificents.
They are a truly woeful. The singer wears very smart C&A pullovers.
their korg thing blew up, and smoke came out the top.
im going to wolvo. also my first time seeing mogwai live. cannot wait. come on friday
I've seen them a few times over the years, Glastonbury 99, Reading, at the Marcus Garvey in Nottingham, at the Birmingham Sanctuary and once before at the Wolves Wulfrun. Each times has been very different. Perhaps the Reading performance when they headlined the tent was the best musically. Their version of My Father My King was simply HUGE, but seeing them for the first time, headlining the Sunday night of Glasto 99 on the second stage, with the mirrorball reflecting lights across the stage with the phrase Mogwai Guitars Right flashed up on a screen behind them was unforgetable.
Mind you, I've never felt the walls shake like they did at the Marcus Garvey. That was slightly scary!
Bring on the 'Gwai.
Or Neu Division, as we decided they should be called.
They sucked balls, I wish I'd stayed in the pub a bit longer.
Mogwai were a tad disappointing too, this was the 8th time I've seen them in as many years, and they seem somewhat restrained these days. And they finished at 10.30! At least they played a few tracks off ten rapid.
Nice light rig though.
they were good, not amazing.
I also easnt best pleased by some stoned, dreadlocked fuckwit behind me talking throughout the whole of Cody, the wanker
when nobody would talk during a gig like that. In fact, I was present at an Arab Strap gig when Aidan Moffatt kicked someone out for talking too loudly!
During Cody, this HUGE fucker in front of me was talking. The whole time. As a gig it wasn't as good as they've been before, I was a tad disappointed but I think it was probably setlist choice more than anything else though, too much Mr. Beast and NOTHING from Rock Action or Young Team.
Helicon 1 and the other Ten Rapid tracks were incredible though.
I'm going to see them in a couple of days.
but then, i've never had the pleasure of seeing them before.
The Magnificents were indeed SHIT.
- they do a different set every night. That they didn't play those songs last night means it is a little more likely they will when you see them.
Despite what you all said Mogwai kicked ass - even though this was the first time I saw them. Oh by the way did I say that Magnifcents were shit?
don't get me wrong, but I'm old and jaded. As I said, it was the 8th time I've seen them play. The first was at the Fleece in Bristol in '98, they were a 4 piece then, and none of them older than about 22, they made a huge fucking racket, but they weren't very professional, shit, Stuart still had hair then!!! That was an amazing experience, but they were quite a different band then, shambolic and noisy, but amazing. I once saw them do a 25 minute encore of Like Herod. I don't think they'd do that these days.....
last night in Southampton. For once I left the gig area and went to the bar during the support. This was only after 3 songs. Nuff said. Mogwai had moments of greatness, but overall were slightly disappointing, mainly coz there was a lot of material from the new album, and I'm still not convinced by the new songs. They did play "2 Rights" though, and ended the encore with "Fear Satan".
Someone shouted out 'Parklife' which was the most annoying thing about the gig (apart from Maginfecnets)
i just got bavk from wolvo aswell.i also had never seen them before and thought they were fantastic. the first half was a bit slow for me but the 2nd half was FANTASTIC. every song just blew me away. so powerful and abrasive but soothing. very very very impressed.
they weren't as good, they are louder now which isn't necessarily as good.
Leeds Festival, me and my mate Mike, just after they released Rock Action - lots of poppers, loads of crap cider & lager = best band I have ever seen. Seriously.
I am going for Boris now
