Considering she'll be promoting such a god awful album.
for posting what i was thinking.
Love and Communication or the 'hidden' track? OK I will admit know I've listened to it a bit there are *some* plus points but not enough to make up for the horribly bland easy listening musical porridge that is tracks like Could We that would be rightly pillored on these boards if someone like David Gray or Dido had released them. I bought Moon Pix a few weeks before The Greatest was released, I'm struggling to believe that it's the same artists.
That one with the whistling on makes me physically sick. There's only one person allowed whistling in their songs and that's Andrew Bird.
Of course it's better for artists to expand and experiment. If an artist just repeated a succeful formula over and over then that formula becomes diluted leaving just a poor copy of what once made them good. BUT I don't believe The Greatest is Chan Marshall experimenting or expanding; to me it sounds like someone taking the safe option. And I will bring it up again because the song so offends me: Could We is just terrible, terrible terrible, a real 'jumping the shark' moment.
On a related note, i was looking through my ratings and I've given Kelly Clarkson the same mark as Cat Power. I don't remember doing this. In fact I don't remeber rating a lot of bands that I have, I must come in pissed at night and do it then.
but I love You Are Free so much.
but the rest are awesome !
My favourite's still what would the community think !
on the new album indeed.
But a lot of average one.
And live she can be really really bad !
The new Laure Hofman album is much better.
and i'm not trying to avoid this, i'd quite like to.
it's really strange.
