....early Pretty Girls Make Graves, with more of a punky emphasis.
near as good as the yeah yeah yeahs. have another listen to fever to tell and tell me otherwise.
i've only heard machine and miles away by the YYY'd and adventure and damn damn leash by BYOP but from these glimpses I prefer BYOP by quite a way.
non stop today. I havn't really liked any of their other singles but Adventure is really fucking good.
they're off some EPs i think. I got them off epitonic though so they can't be that recent
I was happy to see that Damn Damn Leash isn't on the album, thus single floggage on Ebay will comence.
I was tempted by the album but it looked WAAAAY too long.
Damn Damn Leash is great, but everything else I've heard hasn't sounded anywhere near as good.
They were pretty good at Reading last year, mind, and the girl out of them finished the set by projectile vomiting all over the floor then staggering off, which was genius.
But I LOVE Abbreviations.
but am indifferent towards the other two. YYYs have about 5 really good songs, spread over a load of releases, for me. BYOP pale in comparison to both.
between BYOP and PGMG other than Girl Singer. BYOP and YYYs yes. I'm glad that BYOP are around now that YYYs have gone rubbish.
He said PGMG didn't sound like BYOP, not YYYs.
I happen to disagree with him, but that's opinions for yer.
are really really fun if you ignore the hype.
they're just geeky kids who like punk having fun and they're better than most bands made up of 16 year olds, what's wrong with that?
i think they're great.
i wish i was doing that at 16. just doesn't do anything for me. i'm sure if i was drunk i'd dance my tits off to them.
i listen to loads of lo-fi punk and they really fit in with that whole thing.
technically, it's arse, but it's just so much fun to jump around and sing along to that i don't care. most of my favourite musicians are technically inept though, so there you go.
i'm sure i'd hate a lot of bands i like now if they got famous as it would be missing the point somewhat to take them out of their natural habitat of a basement full of their mates.
But the new PGMG album is absolute guff. I'll listen to it again now.
The BYOP album I haven't totally formed my opinion of yet, all I know is, I like it a lot. It's not necessarily a great record but it is so much fun.
Fever to Tell is a top class record, it's not as "good" as that. But I'd probabaly rather listen to BYOP right now.
see the review of the BYOP album on teletext? It was ace. 'If you're over 21 and like Be Your Own Pet, you have serious issues'.
Although I do kinda like them. I must be chock full of issues.
you're safe from being sung about by the Offspring yet.
played badly by 17 year olds.
They were a bunch of really nasty spoilt craps when I met them which may have tainted my view slightly. But hey, I don't need to be impartial! I just take pictures.
There was a disturbing amount of 30+ year old blokes at the front clutching lipstick signed EPs when BYOP suppported the Kills. Twas scary. Maybe that was what the teletext review was referring to? :O
