a limited genre really with only 3 bands, but i <3 Ned's Atomic Dustbin, PWEI and the Wonder Stuff.
can we lump fraggle in here too? mc4, senseless things etc?
They were quite good
i fucking hated them... bleeding Levellers fans. *spits*
dont get me started on the levellers.
they were crusties tho, i wouldnt lump em in with the neds and pwei fans.
around the time when the levellers were big i was the ents officer of my college... all the crusty kids kept begging me to put them on so i spoke to their agent. i was offered them as a secret gig for nine grand. nine fucking grand.
Preston Uni tomorrow and some of my (less hygenic) friends are going. Think it's nearly 20 quid a ticket!
say no more.
not to be a namedropping cunt, but at the around the same time (91/92) i put on the manics and chatted to em befo the gig. the last time they had played salisbury was supporting the levellers and they hated it. one of em said something along the lines of "fuckin crusties everywhere, all middle class pricks... i could stand at the back of the venue and shout JEREMY at the top of my voice and half the fuckin crowd would turn round."
it's mentioned in simon price's book..
they really meant it too. i had dragged a friend backstage to meet them and she (unfortunately) had a levellers t-shirt on. nicky wire just shouted at her "fuck off!! we fuckin hate the levellers!"
so i pointed out she was my friend and they apologised.
also - this all took place in a creche which was the daytime use for the backstage area of that venue... so picture the manic street preachers sitting around a tiny table with tiny chairs, next to a wendy house, an alphabet freeze on the wall, stuffed animals everywhere.
amazingly, they didnt trash it!
are called jeremy. FACT!
all the fucking same to me!
"Nowadays, the term is used as a derogatory term against rock music enthusiasts, who choose to dress to suit themselves and their peers. It is very commonly used by chavs in England, along with the term mosher."
hypocritical much? :D
