I heard Illinoise the other day.
WHY DID NOBODY TELL MEEEEE?
It's a MASTERPIECE.
was raving about this last year John. Didn't you notice?
I love that some of them sound like Phillip Glass.
It's like, if Elliot Smith wasn't so miserable.
I'm, in the words of the Coca-Cola corporation, lovin' it.
Everyone on hear raved about it!
have been hun!
Seven Swans for £2 in a chazza shop about a fortnight ago.
Haven't given it much of a listen yet...
but to be alone with you on sevens swans will MELT your heart. listen to it teepee!
played that live at Shepherd's Bush and it was amazing, I still need to pick up Seven Swans though.
A charity shop, for all the good speople who don't speak Spazzlish.
That's a new word that didn't exist before.
God bless the English language.
DiS readers' no. 2 album of last year and there were like 20 threads in the week leading up to / following its release, so yeah we did sort of mention it but... YAY! It is an amazing album.
most beautiful albums ever. It's better than seven swans, I think.
He's gay though so probably won't want to marry me. Bummer.
hehe. That was an accident, I promise.
is the best song of 2005, along with grass. illinois was, like, totally my third best album of last year.
he's married to a woman. i think they even have a kid or two... besides, if he was he'd be married to me and i *might* be persuaded to share him. for a fee. of chocolate.
Welcome to 2005 John er....SLOWlove.
Sufjan shits amazing music. He'll probably release another two albums this year that are even better!
That's sounds a bit... wrong.
the opposite of George Michael
that doesn't even work - *ABANDON REPLY*
see him live. Its ridiculously good
really 'listened' to Illinoise. This weekend I shall. It better be worth it after what you guys have said.
on chicago sound a bit like a coldplay song that i can't remember the name of.
still a great album though.
Illinoise is one of the most beautiful albums you'll ever hear, bordering on perfection.
In surname terms, it's really left Shakin Stevens with a mountain to climb if he is to equal or better it.
And I agree about Illinoise. It's just scarily, beautifully perfect.
a bit long and some bits are a bit...
Very good album still but I like Seven swans and Michigan more.
But with albums by Bill Ricchini, Euros Childs, the Singing Adams... the last months have been good for singer/songwriter !
How is Brainlove supposed to figure out if it is any good or not from these vague comments?
opinions are one thing I'm never short of. :)
it is !
It is Illinois.
It is annoying when people call it Illinoise...
well, by 'ladies' i mean hookers
and by 'hit' i mean bludgeon to death
because my ear is too firmly pressed to the underground. Giant beautiful alt-pop zeppelins pass over my head unseen.
album of last year, fucking perfection. that is all.
And then you get a big happy love-in thread like this one.
Its not a masterpiece!!
doesn't like it?
in other news i just heard about this new band called 'The Arctic Monkeys', anyone else?
ha and ha
yes, but it's too long. There aren't supposed to be 'meh' breaks in between the greatness. Seven Swans is banging.
it is far too long, but still very good.
Cripple Crow by Devendra Banhart. Although the high points on that aren't as high as the Steve's ones I enjoy listening to Cripple Crow more overall. Probably. If that makes sense.
For your own good.
It was 4am and I was hammered.
I raved about it for most of last year! It's so great.
