what are they like? Worth a listen?
they are too far away.
I want more.
they're great Canadian indie-pop. Download Ageless Beauty and Your Ex-Lover Is Dead and then get the album if you like them.
let the downloading commence...
I thought set yourself on fire was their debut. I may well have to invest. One more night is another brilliant track by them and definitely worth a listen
'this scar is a fleck on my porcelain skin' is so beautiful.
Saw them at cross central. No-one was there.
Although the whole album is pretty great, haven't been able to stop listening to it recently.
I <3 Amy Millan's voice.
a bit boring on record...
Some great songs, some not very good songs.
I love ageless beauty soooooo much I think I scared mrs. c the other day. But a lot of the rest of the album is a bit meh
Still think they are great. And Your ex-lover is dead makes you want to listen to it more than is actually possible
for a song ever. just makes you want to put the album on...
but Ex-Lover, Elevator Love Song and He Lied About Death are all rather good.
It's ace. Brilliant.
The tracks mentioned are all stunning and the end to track ten is brilliant.
BUY IT THOM!!!
He Lied About Death? That one's great. The end of the title track is even better though.
i can't remember the title track, i just fall for your ex lover too much each time.
Is it the most perfect cracked romantic album?
other great cracked romantic albums:
Wrens - Meadowlands
Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American
Mountain Goats - Tallahassee
The title track is track 2 by the way, it has the most incredibly beautiful piano coda.
none of those albums. i really should get some mountain goats...
In the words of My Chemical Romance, TRUST ME
Tallahassee or The Sunset Tree are good starting points. Listen to No Children or This Year if you want convincing.
I had money. Sunset Tree is well on my to buy list, but I chose wilco instead...
so well done. Do you like it?
Mogwai B-Side perhaps?
i bought it online to get the double excitement of mail and cds. i think my guess of what it's like is totally wrong.
i've always lumped wilco in with mclusky. i suspect this is silly of me...
they're infinitely better than McLusky though. Basically they're formerly alt-country, now beautiful experimental rock music. I'd call them the best band in the world on current form. Jeff Tweedy the singer has a gorgeous voice and is a scarily good lyricist.
That is the boldest claim of the century. If it's true I will be giddy and happy and possibly transpose into a being of PURE JOY.
and i'm an idiot
which album have you gone for? Say Yankee Hotel Foxtrot.
now put your hands where i can see them
I love that. It always goes on longer than I expect it too as well.
I don't really like McLusky. But I do love Wilco.
i really do.
get past the fact that McLusky's singer comes across like a complete arsehole in their songs. That and the lack of tunes. I realise this is going to get me ostracised from DiS :(
Lack of tunes?! They have more songs than a song convention! And the singer always comes across as being a singer with a sense of humour, which always scores plus points with me.
Consider yourself ostracised...
one of the most dissapointing albums i own.
I was gonna post about Stars last night as I finally got round to listening to Set Yourself On Fire.
On first listen I think it's an incredible album. I was cooking at the time so didn't give my full undivided attention, but what from what I heard I thought it was brilliant.
