im sure none of you care, but.......
please state your reasons clearly and concisely.
Choosing between these two bands is very much like choosing which two starving orphans you should strangle to death to spare their suffering on the icy streets of London.
In my fantasy, both children die under the wheels of a truck.
well, the NME will win when they steal this and run it as their cover next week and the stupid children lap it up as the next beatles vs stones.
let them snort ajax!
babyshambles had some fantastic songs to work with (versions from the 3cd's pete stuck on the web a few years ago)but didn't deliver at all.
the single version of kilimangiro was fantastic, yet the album version collapses under what my limited knowledge of recording describes as half-arsedness.
loyalty song, when i heard it at glasto had the potential to be an epic, and isn't.
some of the title are changed from the acoustic versions (arebours now, used to be curtain call) but don't have any of the charm of those.
obviously this all comes down to his habits impacting badly on his work, and for anyone who ever knocks him, just listen to up the bracket. phenomenal album, start to finish. the second libs one suffers fro much of what plagues 'down in albion.'
as for dirty pretty things, only heard the one they played on nme awards and it sounded guff. but i'm going on sunday, so i'll have an opinion by monday.
not clear or concise at all i guess.
babyshambles=could've been great. ultimately aren't
all that said, saw babyshambles last friday and had a great night.
feel free to tear me to pieces now.
because Pete's strung out and/or in prison.
dirty pretty things win, because they are a turd, and babyshambles are a shit, and turd is a funnier word.
haven't hears DPT but Fuck Forever was the worst single released since Suede released Trash in the late 1990s. And I knkow he's an easy target but Doherty is the biggest wankshaft in the history of wankshafts and his music sucks arse. Even most of The Libertines stuff sounded like your mates band when you were 14. Utter toss bollocks. AND YOU CAN QUOTE ME ON THAT.
simply for surprising me by being the best gig i've seen this year so far
65Dos and Chris Clark tonight
What?the great Motown singer??
Theyd win and kick both Pete and Carl's asses back to rehab
Hassell is the man.
Isn't that bad... Coming Up was one of the first tapes I ever bought when I was about 11, I played it to death...
Fuck Forever is a pile of rubbish though. Doherty's far better on his own, not trying to be a punk-ah rock-ah rebel. Albion's actually quite a good song...
ever understand what the fuck Didz was thinking of.
he was surplus to requirements in a going-nowhere indie band and by clinging on to Barat's tailcoat he could get himself some of that sweet spotlight?
I'd have thought a TCTC-er would have been the last to go down that route. They always built themselves up to be this tight unit, and what they were doing was really still quite exciting and interesting that I'm surprised he's flogged himself off to cheap riffs and shit songs...
if you take the cynical view. He was rather vague about why he did it in the interview I read, and it sounded like the Coopers were nowhere near as tight as they made out to be. Obviously they're better than Carl "Shit" Barat and his pub rock peddling band of chancers, but what are you going to do?
And bemoan the fact that TCTC aren't long for this world. I'm just bitter cos they were one of my first 'alternative' discoveries when I started uni and I'm sentimental about them. Film Maker going top 20 is still one of my favourite musical memories.
if they make it to album number three I suspect they'll split shortly thereafter. I remember thinking Blind Pilots was teh best song evar the first time I heard it.
the singer is apparently playing bass now, and hes gonna shut his liam gallagher emulating mouth more.
When Babyshambles started they were the bollocks. They sounded really tight and ...'disciplined'. After Peter became a media whore, they went toss. The Killamangiro A-side and B-side are superb. The album's shit.
I loved DPT's new song on NME awards. I hope they're decent.
It all seemed to go down hill after Fuck forever!
I like it.
