Yo La Tengo?
(can't remember what it's called), or 'And then nothing turned itself inside out'. Lovely.
'prisoners of love' or something.
that's it. It's great.
'I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One' is the best album to begin with. 'Electro-Pura' is good for the noiser frazzled guitar side of things.
I still need to get Painful.
Painful might be my favourite YLT album, it's just beautiful and a great night-time album. Electropura is good too although not as consistent as the others. I still need to hear their early stuff. They're just such an amazing band though.
Ride The Tiger which is a pretty early album, lots of jangly Byrds-esque guitars. Been a while since i listened to it though.
Have you got the Little Honda EP? There's some great covers on that.
what do they cover on it?
Their covers of The Whole Of The Law and You Can Have It All are the greatest things ever.
a cover of Gram Parson's 'How Much I Lied' and another song called 'By The Time It Get's Dark' - i'm not sure who did the original but it's really beautiful. They also do 'No Return' which i think is a Kinks cover. Definitely worth getting your hands on if you're a big fan.
all their stuff is so expensive though :(
11 albums and 4 eps on emusic.
I Can Hear The Heart Beating As One is the best intro as it pretty much shows all the sides of the band and has quite a few of their best songs. Then get Painful which is quite shoegazerish and And Then Nothing Turned Itself Inside Out which is from their more recent quiet-and-lovely phase.
