Or, Worst band you've seen live?
or the pippettes
Add N To X
The reason I went was peer pressure, honest.
Pipettes are great!
The Feeling... now they were terrible.
don't stick in the memory...but Les Incompetents last year are about twenty five minutes of my life that I'll never get back.
Saw them at club NME on Friday, fashion rock at it's most dire. Anybody who doesn't like indie would have a field day with this band. They are apalling.
...also The Vines and Whirlwind Heat. The Libertines might have been OK playing acoustically to a dozen or so people, but they were totally out of their depth, shambolic, clueless and disinterested in front of a couple of thousand. Can't even bear to dwell on the other two...
Shit on CD
Clinc - supporting the Flaming Lips in 2003. They started off ok and just sorta couldnt follow it up and just sorta got boring. Theyre still good on record though.
clinic are soopa-dull live.
I'd choose Babyshambles. Didn't even turn up...twats.
The Von Bondies, I still don't know why, they were supposed to be so great.
The best were Pixies, both times :)
then Electric Soft Parade supporting BSP in November, and the pair of jokers who supported Tweedy at Shepherd's Bush.
that is all.
Gorilla were the worst.
Terrible live, one of the dullest gigs I've ever been to in my life.
all the Peaches hate :(
Disturbed - hysterically bad. Not like you'd expect anything other from them, but, really, unbelievable cheese factor.
Client - such promise as a concept, but so unbelievably dull in practice.
Feeder - the only exciting thing about this band is when Taka bounces across the stage. And that gets old in five minutes. And it is even more unbearable when you only came for the support band but have to sit through a very very long and boring set where Grant what'shisface gets angry at being hit by a pint brcause you have lost your left shoe.
were fairly awful and frustratingly memorable..
If it's who I'm thinking of, they supported Patrick Wolf last year at the Cluny. The singer was creepy as fuck...
He sang about komodo dragons and danced in a way that was both hypnotic and terrifying simultaneously..
must really have needed the money.
I booed and booed until I was hoarse.
last Wednesday. Boring pub rock and they're meant to be Brighton's best unsigned band.
Hundred Reasons, the third time I saw them. The first two times, they were one of the best bands I've ever seen...
The Black Velvets
I'm desperate to see them. You're ruining the illusion.
but DFA 1979 at Reading last year were absolute guff, but it was due to their sound more than anything, couldnt hear bass or vocals which just left what appeared to be a band simply thrash drumming, it wasn't good
billy corgan at the forum last year, overpriced, lights stolen from justin timberlake, tunes stolen from a chapterhouse b-side compilation, the only good stuff he played wasn't on the album... gah!
good call on The Others, though I do like Long Blondes live.
Other terrible gigs:
Archie Bronson Outfit
Jimmy Eat World @ Brixton in 2002
Papa Roach (yes I actually saw 'em)
The Rocks (1st time - thereafter they've been really good)
be eighteen visions at reading
we were bored, were waiting for a couple of othe rbands so we watched these for about 10 mins, and they were shit!
I saw The Glitterati at the ICA a couple of years ago. They were so awful that I was moved to throw my beer at them after about 30 seconds. I was horrified at what I had done, but realised that all my mates had already walked out after about fifteen seconds.
im not even sure they know how to play their instruments
that they know where they are half the time, let alone how to play their instruments... or even shout tunelessly.
...because the singer made a mongy face at me!
Also I've seen tiny bits of Athlete twice now, and both times have wanted to go to sleep. Sooooo boring.
I've also seen plenty of crap bands who I don't know the names of. One was in a battle of the bands competition at the Little Civic in Wolves a couple of years back. The rhythm guitarist didn't realise his amp was switched on and started fiddling with his guitar controls because he couldn't understand it. Then he turned the amplifier volume right up, before realising his mistake and switiching the amp on. But because he'd turned the volume right up and was stodd in front of the amp with his guitar, everything just went into feedback city. Not pleasant and I felt particularly embarrased because the band's parents were stood near me.
the apple falls
def leppard (shut up)
the boxer rebellion (dull)
Pink Grease are brilliant live...act like total excitable dicks...perfect live experience.
are great on record... shite live. I agree.
Although I know she CAN be good.
first time i saw her she was great. she supported the strokes and pissed all over them. [not literally...alas.]
2nd time she was shit and i left.
I agree with Happylife. Fucking terrible.
For me my two least favourite are Mogwai and Spiritualized. Boring as.......
They were dreadful. Good atmosphere, though, so in the end I actually quite enjoyed the gig.
cousin to a drive-thru records gig a couple of years ago (I promise!). It made me question my life in a way that I never thought was possible. One of the worst experiences of my life, let alone one of my worst gig-going experiences. And its always so much worse when everybody is really getting into a gash* band and youre just standing there with utter contempt for every human being in the audience.
*Gash = Allister, the Movielife, and some others
it's half of the reason i don't go to silver racket on a regular basis anymore, people going mental over the likes of Cove and Cat on Form Steve's new band, I can't deal with it! I just don't get it!
called Gash, but they sort of split up, then reformed and changed their name and music I think.
Put the triangles away, kids....
saw one of their first ever shows, it was at Heaven. Bad choice for a venue as well. they sucked big balls. absolute garbage. I loved Suede so much in their day, left early before I started to cry
some thai oasis wannabe 'cock rock' band with one of the original members of oasis playing guitar (the bald one).
thankfully it was glastonbury so other entertainment options were available, i took refuge in the film tent and watched some trippy cartoon with robots in it.
aids wolf and whitehouse.
"art" apparently...! though whitehouse does remind me of a secondary school kid reciting chris morris while jumping on a radio being transmitted through a marrrshall stack. Gash.
I saw The Dears. Loved the album, fucking boring live... "if you don't wanna play live then don't bother and give us our money back you cunts!"
Worst band i've ever seen though, it's close between:
Haven (remember them?)
The Vines (just embarrassing)
Muse (walked out of their gig after four songs, pretentious load of old bollox).
But Paul Weller. He was so boring.
probably Boy Kill Boy.
test-icicles, protocol and editors.
I don't believe ya.
Pink Grease or Kaiser Chiefs at Reading.
I left during the first song of each because they were clearly absolutely fucking atrocious.
