Get the Mobius Beard album. No idea when it is out but it is very good. Deservo and Homesick were talking about Nathan Fake here last week and his album is lovely too, it's electronica but it seems very shoegaze influenced.
I assume you've already checked out Vitalic and Isolee?
Nice names. I shall investigate. Ta.
I haven't listened to it yet but he assures me it's the best electronica album so far this year. I'm going to listen to it this evening.
yes, they both be good'ns.
except it's actually COPY and the album is called mobius beard.
Tom - wanna make me an electonica mixtape?!?! I neeeeed inspiration, then I could add you to my list of Tom's that I owe mixtapes :o)
Me or other Tom?
it was you but I don't owe Alan one yet either, just Tom Sparks, Monpot and Thommo...... They will come one day, honestly, and they'll be gold plated :o)
Right, I'm going to the pub.
'Golden Acre Sleeps' is out this week.
Cacoy "Human is Music"
Nathan Fake "Drowning In A Sea Of Love"
Brian Lavelle "How To Construct a Time Machine"
Broadcast "Tender Buttons" or "Haha Sound"
Casiotone for the Painfully Alone "Etiquette"
Secret Mommy "Very Rec"
Waxed Apple "8 Bit Love Song" (Single)
Hot Chip "Coming On Strong"
Linus Loves "The Victoria Principle EP"
Marc Romboy vs Matthias Tanzmann "Who Got The Beat EP"
The Presets "Beams"
Robert Babicz "Mister Head EP"
Collabs 3000 "Metalism"
I've kinda disregarded most other genres for electronica lately!
Did you upload one to yousendit?
I put the link up on the Cacoy thread.
D'you want another one?
I've completely fallen for the record.
but I'm at work at the moment so I can't download it yet. Can you put it up later?
I'll bump up the thread again : D
I find most of his stuff meh though.
'Sexor' is growing on me abit, but his vocals are really annoying. Pleasure from the bass is awesome but that's been around for quite a while anyway.
WORD to ratatat and the presets. Have you heard the ratatat remix album? it's GOOD.
I'll try and find it.
I know what you mean about Tiga as well. I keep thinking I'm listening to the Scarface soundtrack.
The new album is good until about half way and then it loses it's direction. I maintain Young Shields and New Years Kiss are very good songs.
really hasn't grown on me at all, Some of it is quite good but some isn't so... perhaps I'll give it another chance sometime...
= the best electronic album so far this year, I reckon so anyway. except it's not out yet... but there's a couple of mp3s in there.
Also, I recommend:
'Jackson and his computer band - Smash' Which sounds a bit like daft punk being remixed/destroyed by prefuse 73
'Isolée - We Are Monster' - insanely good minimal-tech/idm/micro-house genius
'Audion - Suckfish' - really minimal but menacing and quite scary.
Those are probably the best 3 electronic albums of 2005.
I haven't got around to the album yet but the EPs are very good.
I've been trying to get hold of that Audion album but not been able to find it anywhere (I'm talking about shops). I haven't been able to get it online either.
I just got mine from amazon marketplace in the end, it was pretty cheap.
The vinyl version has extra tacks but it's missing the 3 singles. I'd really like to hear the extra tracks but I can't be bothered to get both.
I'll check it out later.
better for vinyl really than anything else.
I thought it was a completely different artist until last night!
the album 'Leave Now For Adventure'. Not sure when it's released.
would colon openbracket :( count as electronica, or computer game madness music? apologies for ignorance on this subject.
Nathan Fake. Oh yes.
