Hell yes, that is all
WOLF POWER! is where its at
is my hero.
The Grammies gave him a lifetime achievement award. Apparently db didn't care that much either cos I don't believe he was even there. (I only caught a couple of snippets of last night's show as there was a Law & Order rerun on, which was about twice as interesting. *sigh* Of Madonna, Coldplay and the U2/Mary J Blige songs I saw, Madonna was best. *double sigh* McCoy gave some hapless sap 25 to life on L & O. *triple sigh*)
turned down repeated offers of a knighthood
thing I know about the Grammies is that McCartney had his TENTH Best LP nomination since leaving The Beatles. Really, he's made 10 good LPs since leaving The Beatles?!?
Also, back on track - I don't really know much Bowie save 'the singles'. Maybe I should rectify this, and maybe one of you should tell me how. oceanRain, I trust you. INFORM ME.
Since you don't seem to trust me:
Hunky Dory, Ziggy Stardust and Diamond Dogs.
Then buy all the rest too. But those ones first
For "the same"
add a winking smiley there
and I know it's been asked many times. I thought I may as well jump on the bandwagon though. Now, where's me handbook?
trillby and a glass of white wine?
that a lovely person should make you an exhaustive compilation on data cd, weeding out the very very bland or naff stuff that makes up some of his albums.
you would need the whole of Low, tho, and the lodger and heroes. cos they are the sheeeezey.
maybe. my friend matt has the entire discography, and rationed it out to me last year. i could start it as a little project, cos i guess i need to get all the sweetness too.
although, that said, the two famous best ofs are actually the sheezey as well.
is all you need.
scares the holy fuck out of me. I've still never seen it the whole way through.
you ran screaming from barfly?
that was on. That may have something to do with it!
I JUST CANNAE HANDLE IT!
Are you cowed by Bowie's tights?
was that...but then subconciously it may have been that. Labyrinth makes me feel inadequate :(
I'm a Bowie fanatic, as you guys know. And though everything post-Scary Monster is mere mortal...everything released on RCA is otherworldly. The "chameleon" tag isn't just for his hair dye and attire, these albums are all uniquely individual and all brilliant.
Station To Station
Man Who Sold The World
that said how around the time of The Man Who Fell To Earth he would stay up for seven or eight days at a time eating nothing but peppers, milk and vast amounts of cocaine.
his entire berlin period was orange juice and cocaine and nothing else?
was a piece of shit
i agree with the rest though
I'm thinking that it must be love.
5 DiS points, first to name this l'il gem of a tune!
Stories abound from this period of Bowie's life, but basically living in Los Angeles in the mid-70s nearly killed him (walking around his Bel Air mansion with the shades all drawn, muttering spells and drawing pentagrams... you get the idea). In '77 he pulls Iggy Pop out of a lollipop factory and the two of them go to Berlin to buy their own groceries and clean up. Doubtful Bowie cut the cord clean... heck the way the Dandy Warhols describe some of the parties they've thrown in Bowie's honor, he probably still dabbles from time to time.
but the second disc of the best of can go in the bin along with forty licks disc 2.
Station to Station from Station to Station. That's my favourite Bowie album.
Then Lodger, then Heroes. Hmm. Then maybe Scary Monsters.
He is great, isn't he?
CONNECT 4, that wonderful 80s game??? TRUTH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
He pronounces his made up name wrong, and makes too much money off of his fans.
Still to me the greatest ever rock star.
I'm wearing my dad's Bowie t-shirt.
Does that make me cool?
I don't know how to follow that...
I don't like him that much. But I respect his influence on things I do like.
