Arctic Monkeys Last Night

adman2001 [Edit] [Delete] 6 replies 09:14, 9 February '06

Anyone who was there last night should agree with me on this, but Arctic Monkeys had nothing on Maximo Park. Turner has a long way to go before he can reach the same stage show and presence that Paul Smith has.

Apart from that, they sounded good but i now believe with what Turner says at the start of the video for 'I bet you look good'.

'Dont Believe the hype'

  • They didn't get

massive from myspace, it was their own website and forums with mp3's of the demos.

And they did get a massive following from it, to be fair. Fans went on other forums and told people about it, people checked them out and thus they had a massive fanbase. It helped when the members of the libs.org messageboard got involved as well. They had a whole fanbase waiting for a replacement band, and they just hopped on board.

  • people were

raving about them before they got a record deal though so no one was marketing them then and by the time they got mainstream press like the bamos says they already had a massive following, places like soulseek had tons and tons of people sharing the demos, that aint marketing

    • i think

there is a difference between a shameless plug and someone actually plugging a band on a forum cos they actually think they are good. for instance i regurarly recomend music for people to check out on here, (the envelopes, the research, postal service) it doesn't mean im a street teamer for them.
if a street-teamer on a forum plugs a band and they are shit it doesn't make any difference they are never going to get a following.
