What does everyone think?
After that, meh. Although The Bitter End I quite liked.
Am I going to get hurt for saying this?
i used to be really into them when i was about 17, and i have fond memories of seeing them live for the first time in the PISSING rain at reading 2000.
can't say i'm overly interested anymore, though.
I'm really not sure - they are filming their new video tonight at Koko and not sure about whether to pop along...
one of my friends was trying to get me to go, but the idea of going to koko directly after work without dinner and having to be surrounded by Camden Tahn Gofficks is a bit much for me.
with their long black hair and dressing in black and black leather jackets...
Oh hang on, that reminds me of someone, Daniel.
or me and my voodoo mates will put a curse on you.
that was comedy gold, for sure!
which i was clearly just engaging in :P
but I love them for reasons I can't quite explain. They are the masters of catchy tunes. And The Bitter End was the best thing they've done in ages. Do they have a best of? I'd like that
from 2004 called 'once more with feeling'.
i didn't really like the bitter end, though - they'd promised this brand new direction but it just sounded like old Placebo with some twinkle-twinkle keyboards mixed over the top.
and it's only a fiver on amazon.
The singles album sounds good when it's on but it has no draw for me to actually put on, if that makes sense? I've always loved Nancy Boy. :-D
Nancy Boy too
I was there for that, and it wasn't pissing with rain. I swear it wasn't
but she doesn't have the internet any more.
but - IN THE WORLD, troo dat.
sersly, like, i'm never going to live this down :(
they're still quite good though :P
well done :)
remember when you were like "OMG i know, lets go see the zutons instead coz they're totaly amazin'!!11!!1ONE!111ELEVEN")
actually i think she could rightfully disown you then.
that was really funny :D:D
i'd never outdo fiona's falling-into-a-bush :(
UNLESS. i fell into a tree. that would be good.
obiously not that fiona, she is now irrelevant. THIS fiona. fihiki fiona. fiona-from-belgium. innit.
i don't remember that, but imagining it is funny :D
one of those bands I probably wouldn't like now but I liked them when I was younger and now I still have a soft spot for them. They have some good songs, but also, some truly terrible ones.
the second half of their first album is really good but they completely abandoned that direction in favour of doing the same song over and over again. And you can pinpoint the moment they completly lost it and that point is david bowie.
2 quite good albums.
the rest is awful.
And very bad live.
They were the low point of Reading 2000. Other than not being able to get into the tent to see ATD-I.
There are many bands in this world.
Some are great *smiles at picture of Wilco*
Some are bad *frowns at picture of Feeder*
Some make be angry through sheer crapness *grimaces at picture of The Others*
There is also a category of band's that while i may not especially like, i am glad are still around and making music, for they hath caused me no offence. Like Placebo.
Every Me and Every You is great though...
of Bruise Pristine !
My grammair and spelling were pretty Porr in that post.
this was for the porr...
Im in the video for every me and every you, qued outside brixton academy november 98 as he sings "carve..."
Lyle is ON FIRE!
can't be bothered with the rest though. And I'm not really fussed by their new song. Although, saying that, I'm rather looking forward to seeing them at the IOW festival in June!
the others were a bit poo from what i heard
for their general vibe than the songs, nowadays. as for quite a few people, I liked them more back when I was a bit younger. But they still have a sleazy charm, and also I am gay4brianmolko. will be getting the new album, quite looking forward to it just to see what the hell they'll do... major change of direction coming up I reckon.
the first album, its ok but really nothing special. his voice is annoying. i love a couple of their singles though
thrid and fourth = joke
bitter end = rather good
and always will I expect, heard their new one on the radio last night and thought it was OK...
I did a whole art project on brian molko for a level when i had a slight placebo obsession, it was made of wood, paint and mirrors. It was great.
I wanted to listen to it after having a conversation about them with homesick_alien the other day but I couldn't find my copy. I was a bit disappointed with the second album but that was probably because I used to hold the first one in such high regard. I never bought another Placebo album. Come Home, 36 Degrees and Brick Shithouse are still blinding.
Without You I'm Nothing, Black Market Music and Sleeping With Ghosts.
I like Placebo, I don't listen to them that much, but I think they've got some really good tunes. I think the new album has the more 'pop' vibe but the tracks like 'English Summer Rain' are up there with the best songs they've done. And Bullet Proof Cupid, thats good as well.
I think I'll stick them on now.
