by The Magnetic Fields.
Modern masterpiece, no?
Let's do a mexican wave in celebration.
*spinning bird kick*
even choose a favourite from it?
I think it has been scientifically proven to be impossible
They're all so good though
My current highlights
Chicken With it's Head Cut Off
The Luckiest Guy on the Lower East Side
Nothing Matters When We're Dancing
I Don't Want to Get Over You
you've got two other discs worth of stuff to choose from too!
I just wanted to be part of the mexican wave :-\
I didn't like it for ages actually. I just fell in love with it this week.
it's just never really hit me that much, maybe I should listen to it more then.
when i played in Kilburn the afro guy from the bridge gang said he thought PWL was like the magnetic fields.
I was well chuffed.
Here it comes again though
is saw them do that live show down in hammersmith for that release directly after being dumped. not the best choice of entertainment at the time, but its a great piece of work.
my favourite is definitely 'Busby Berkley Dreams'.
actually this has given me an idea for a thread...
Y'see, people call B&S "twee". But if they're twee then 69 Love Songs is a Hallmark Card being liked by Bambi.
And it was bloody expensive. I should have taken it back.
Trade it in for some taste.
Maybe there's just too much of it?
But I need it to complete my collection of triple albums that aren't a cripplingly self indulgent waste of time.
there are just so many.
but I have to admit, I've only really listed to disc 1 a lot. I should listen to the others some more. My favourites are 'All My Little Words' and 'I Think I Need A New Heart'.
When I first bought 69 Love Songs last year, I wrote a glowing mini-review here (9/10). Since then I've rarely put it on, as it is TWEE as twee gets, but I stand by my original reaction. It is a masterpiece.
You missed All My Little Words
my favourites are:
All My Little Words
Luckiest Guy On The Lower East Side
Abigail, Belle of Kilronan
but not classic. I know it's missing the point to say this but if it was one album, or even two albums of about 15 songs each, it would be amazing. There's just too much filler for it to be a truly great listening experience. Disc 2 is definitely the best though and has at least 15 or so great songs on it. Best songs are When My Boy Walks Down The Street, Abigail Belle Of Kinronan, Busby Berkely Dreams and best of all Papa Was A Rodeo.
I'm listening to it now and there are enough unforgettable tracks on the first disc alone, and there's two more discs to go. It's proper ace.
I think my favourite track is 'I'm the luckiest guy on the lower East side' or whatever the fuck it's called.
We should keep posting about this so the thread stays at the top until everybody's bought a copy.
