The twin towers of British music apparently.
Nice clean, good, safe music that you can take home to your mum.
if they're the twin towers who is the Pentagon?
But I'll get a gun and that can be the planes.
I would never put my mum through something like that
Me neither. they are both asses.
One a twisted and perverted gate into the land of the dark lord, the other once thought good and true but now turned against us evil.
Now *there's* an analogy.
But if someone flies a plane into each of them I'll take your one as better...
The above is probably my greatest ever analogy, but only if you're nerdy like me and know that the Two Towers of the book's title refers to Minas Morgul and Orthanc... Ho hum.
all that brit nominations stuff about them and Blunt. Funnily enough the kaiser bints were nominated for one award at the leeds independant music awards and Wilson was going on about how they didn't even win that. I think they'll clean up but I hope Gorillaz get something.
I thought it was London and Paris.
I like the Kaiser Chiefs.
(please insert an inflammatory comment about your music taste here)
[insert random child-like playground retort]
and blur and oasis were uo for awards i thought it was all great and amazing that they were up there with madonna and stuff. for the older ones among you - did you all moan about how shot they were? not a diss, just wondering?
some things never change.
Blur have always been a band to take seriously. While they naturally won awards for the stuff I don't reckon gets as much listening these days, the 94/95 awards weren't too bad.
However they were still being fairly shit. The Verve winning best album over OK Computer was probably the Brit's worst moment in my opinion.
okay computer might be better, but as far as a big public award thing goes, the verve winning int too shabby
It's not a good album. It has some good tracks on it (Rolling People for example) but if you're giving away best album awards then there's little contest and I think history has gone one to show that OK Computer consistently tops polls and Urban Hymns, er, doesn't.
It just shows the Brits up as the money-led, piss-poor shower of shit it is.
FACT: The only good thing the Brits ever gave us was Jarvis Cocker fucking showing up Michael Jackson as the TOTAL CUNT he is. And for that I am grateful.
but james blunt will win at least one of the categories he has been nominated in for the brits, given that he had the bestselling single last year. it's all about sales, it's so predictable - i might even go and put some money on it if i can get over the fear that the bookie might take me for a fan of his.
Blunt is crap. The Kaiser Chiefs are good.
I've found myself won over by their well constructed pop songwriting, and uncunty demeanour.
as force of evil in music, and quite despicable from what i've read.
Kaisers seem a nice bunch of blokes, perhaps surprised at their rapid climb vs talent. I can't listen to their music though - it plods, and makes my heart heavy.
don't really dig 'oh my god' but their other singles are pretty good. My sister got me the album for christmas, and I was pleased.
I just wouldn't automatically slag them off/compare them to Blunt for having musical ambition slightly to the right of 12 minute arse bugle/stylophone jams with lyrics taken from the Gnostic gospels, in the original aramaic chanted over the top by a six year old girl choir.
They are very good at what they do.
Do you like them too?
wow. very well put. Now I have seen the error of my ways, seen the light etc...
you should stop complaining about 'nice clean' music like this. Fair enough, both are terrible, but that's not what you're pointing out.
What is it that makes them safe music, though?
Is it the music? Is it fuck. Its the fact they have no credit to 'underground indie dance hardcore' fans like yourself.
Because frankly you're hilariously wrong often I do wonder.
'underground indie dance hardcore'
That's hilarious. It's like something my dad might have said in 1995.
I'm getting the point perfectly, silly man.
The point is, Rogers can't accept that the biggest two bands in Britain, or the 'twin towers of British music' aren't "challenging" or horribly obscure and shit.
Ever since I've got here, I have never ceased to be amazed at how much of a following a person can have on the internet like this. Someone says something disagreeing with him, and you all leap to his defence.
You must be their role-model or something, Jonathon.
Can you honestly read it and not feel stupid? Its uninformed, strange and complete and utter bollocks. It has nothing to do with Brainlove. You're embarrasing. In the David Brent sense. the things you say are so hilariously wide of the mark I still wonder if you're actually for real.
