Art Brut and The Clientle spring to mind. Can you think of any more?
god I hate that band
Did anyone see that piece in the Observer (I think it was the Observer anyway) about Art Brut with a huge pic of Jasper?
Don't bother reading it. I can sum it up in one paragraph:
"Art Brut are too clever for most people. So Kaiser Chiefs and other northern bands are going to be more popular than them because they are noisier and more aggressive, even though Art Brut are the better band."
are big in Germany aren't they?
This reminds me of Spinal Tap and the joke about bands being big in Japan...
People in Planes... once signed to EMI as Tetra Splendour, then changed their name and signed a deal Stateside. Cracking album...
sales of about 500,000 in the U.S.
*shudder* I feel dirty just typing that word.
art brut are doing better in america? really?
Quite popular in America apparently.
he was shit !
...Matt Hales is ace.
I wish he'd do some more of the power-pop stuff though, much as I like Aqualung...
they were higher in pitchfork's albums of 2005 than dis'...
anyone else remember them?
are these the guys?
lead singer, didn't she? My brother liked them. He's not American.
Virtually ignored in their home town of Glasgow, but doing ok in America and very well in Spain, for some reason.
