It's really quite great, isn't it.
Did anyone watch it last night?
i remember, when i still live at my mum's, getting home one night after a rubbish, rubbish evening out in Bedford, to see the video for 'a movie script ending' by death cab and it made me oh so happy.
only have Sky at work, and i'm rarely here till 1am :(
so the only times i see it are when i go round my friend's house after the pub on a friday night.
and then it's 120 METAL minutes.
well, i might be living in leicester next year..
AND WE'LL GET SKY.
is very good on mtv2 as well. i saw architecture in helsinki, devendra banhart and pavement on there one week.
it's just that bloody "text, drugs and rock and roll" which pisses me off.
MBV, Moose (haha!), Chapterhouse, JAMC, Cocteaus, Ride...
Plus some other recent slightly poorer stuff somewhat more spuriously classified as "shoegazing" cos uhhh they've a bit of feedback/sound like the Dandy Warhols' arse (albeit when they were alright but..), & disappointing mogwai bits...
But that old stuff! fuck! It was like I was 9 or 10 again watching The Chart Show....heh! wow... I'm trying to remember what else was on, lots other similar old classics that they never gave the names of (bastards), god what a trip back in time...
And much better than the balls they were mostly showing the only other time this year i've seen it :)
They played Redjetson! Please say you saw!
amongst the "poorer recent stuff" I referred to ;)
But then I do reckon they're one of the poorest new bands getting attention that I've heard & seen live in the last couple years....sorry, but you brought 'em up here colin! I've said my piece on them here before tho, so i'll leave it there for now... ;)
Tis great, I've found many a good band on there.
Haven't seen redjetson yet though.
I actually watched it because it said it was a shoegazer special and I had no idea what shoegazer music is (I'm assuming it has something to do with shoes) and I'm assuming stuff like My Bloody Valentine and stuff like that must me it. Urrgh sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub-sub genres are so fucking confusing
after rereading the post i realised i can not make a proper sentence.
PS What is shogazer music?
tho dunno how accurate it all is. skim-reading it..
the more derisive Melody Maker term it mentions is traceable back to Steve Sutherland who took a fairly dim view of it all if i remember rightly though, so take that with the rightful big pinch of salt it deserves (ie, dismiss..)
I just remembered they played CURVE last night too haha! o my days...
music show from heaven that!
MBV, Moose, JAMC, Ride, Curve.
Did they play the Telescopes and Slowdive too?
I'll have to video it next week.
think there was some slowdive in there..
It was a (one-off?) 'Shoegazing Special' though so don't know if it'll happen again - saw it at a friend's though, dunno if they repeat these things, I've never had MTV in my life :(
in highbury would just get keyed anyway.
