So, who's gonna be there?
Or is everyone at wolf parade? Don't be.
I'm going to be at Wolf Parade. Sorry.
I'm joking. Enjoy.
Wish I could go to both. :-\
See you there homesick! I'm so looking forward to this...
Bat for lashes 8.15
I probably won't bother getting there for the support then. I've had enough of rushing around london this week getting to gigs early.
God bless Sub-Pop's press people.
I am now officially...
wait for it...
why do good things have to be on the same night.
i had that problem. Being up in Newcastle we never have that situation.
Me and a mate are meeting in the Enterprise shortly after 8.
got tickets for wolf parade, but im gonna go to sonic cathedral instead i think.
I want to go to one of these gigs! Although I'm still not actually dressed yet...
they'll go to waste otherwise.
Any ideas what time last entry is robin?
Also, if you are going, any chance you can grab me one of this Slowdive reissues they're giving away?!
i dont think there are too many copies, but i'll try get one for ya. which album you after?
the place finishes at 1am i think. televise on about 9.30, prc on about 10.30ish
I'm assuming you've got them all already?
Well, I'm going to Wolf Parade so I probably won't be able to get down there until around 11.45. Not sure if it's worth it as I'll miss the bands.
i'll see what i can do. its a shame so much good stuff is going on tonight...
If the Sonic Cathedral night had been announced earlier I would have gone to that but I had already bought tickets for Wolf Parade.
I'm tempted by your ac30 night next week but it's in bloody Kilburn! That's a right pain to get home from.
the luminaire is 8 yards north of the barfly. its on the tube lines, train lines... 10 mins from bond street. piss easy! awesome venue too - shits on the barfly from a great height.
however, if you miss that - our xmas party is a bit good - live sets from josh pearson, heroes of switzerland and the battles of winter... plus dj sets from ulrich schnauss, sonic cathedral, simon scott amongst others!
There is the overland to and from Dalston actually, I guess I could get that.
the station on that line is about 20 yards from the venue too. dead easy.
and then effectively getting paid to see them from the glass bar. It's not as good as seeing them from close up but thats what atp is for.
How good was this gig?!!! Maybe one of the best gigs I've ever been to. Tutu-wearing male dancers, three different beatboxers, and a cover of a Kevin Little song - crazeeee! They put on an awesome live show and their voices were astounding. They looked like they were having so much fun on stage. The word eclectic doesn't even begin to cover it. If you're going to ATP then you must go see them!
Boo to the guy who heckled them at the beginning. And also (cue mini rant) extremely tall guys who insist on standing right at the front should be shot. Guys who insist on taking pictures every other second should also have their arms pulled off. I was wedged between two such boys. Bastards.
But yeh, what i saw of them was great. Would have liked them to have done bisonaurs (sp) though.
have said hi but I was too busy staking my claim at the front of the stage.
I wish they had played Brazilian Sun but they did give my friend a free CD when we went up to merchandise desk and told them we didn't have enough cash between us for 2. Awww...
Who was the support?
it was just CDs and LPs. One of the sisters was selling and signing them at a desk near the clockroom.
The support were Bat for Lashes who were also great. Bjork-esque vocals, ethereal melodies and lots of strings. She's also one to look out for.
Yeah they put on a good show and they'd obviously put a lot of thought and effort into it, but I don't know... The whole thing just felt impersonal compared to the records which are quite intimate, there was no intimacy. Like they'd start playing a really mournful/haunting melody on the harp, which would sound great, but then some guy would start beatboxing and getting the crowd to clap along, which just seemed not right. The beatboxing sounded great sometimes, not always though. I guess I just didn't think the show suited the music. It would have been an awesome show for a different style of music.
Maybe it was just me then, I was in kind of a funny mood. Please don't shoot me ann!
LTZ - I did see you at the bar (isis t-shirt?) but you looked kind of busy serving hipsters their 'cranberry and soda' or whatever. Some person infront of me ordered a pint and half of that - what the hell kind of drink is that?
you didn't stand at the front and block my view so you escape my wrath!
I was just amazed at how they managed to re-invent their style and for me it worked really well.
I did look out for you Tom but I couldn't find you in the sea of scenesters.
I was standing at the back because I couldn't actually get any futher into the crowd, it was so packed. There were people talking loudly at the back as well, that probably put me in a bad mood.
who talk loudly at gigs = twats.
For people who missed the support:
She's really good!
