where are they ?
what are they up to ?
has evryone moved on already ?
readying a new album, called 'Left' for some reason. Out early next year, I for one am looking forward to it. I fucking love The Lost Riots.
was doing a quick ipod update and realised that enough though it was sitting right there on the shelf i hadn't added it yet ... and then i noticed its actaully quite good
...possibly my favourite album of last year. Everything comes together for me on that, the big strings, the drumming, the pianos, the (over-criticised) voice, I just love the way the album sounds. I doubt it'll be possible for me to like the next album more.
are a classic example of a band hyped to the point were they couldn't fail to disappoint. I happen to think The Lost Riots is quite good- it just wasn't good enough. As they themselves said, they piled on the layers and feedback and the tunes kinda got lost in the mix. With any luck this next one will be really good.
album of last year as well. I love it to bits
I thought it was kind of inconsistent. Too many songs lost under overblown and somewhat histrionic production. There were a bunch of great songs though (especially Black Dollar Bills, Enemies/Friends, The Black Amnesias and 66 Sleepers To Summer) and if they can control themselves a little and buy the lead singer some singing lessons and Strepsils then they could make a damn good second album.
One of my absolute favourites
I love every single second of every single track, but especially Enemies/Friends, Nehemiah and Sadness on my Back, which despite the title puts me in a festive mood for some reason. But yeah, I bought it last year after having someone recommend it to me, and I've got a really strange/cool copy of it, with collectors case(a cardboard type envelope, with dodgy sleeve featuring diagrams of the human body annotated with the lyrics). Thats enough for that tangent.
Russell loves hope of the states!
...Is it true?
Mmm-hmm! I do, I do, I do-ooo.
I thought they were really great at Glasto '04.
Friends/Enemies and The Black Amnesias were the highlights of my festival.
I find the recorded stuff a little on the limp side though. Maybe if they focus on what kind of sound they really want to make their follow up will be really impressive.
As The Lost Riots stands though it's just an "ok debut".
