Are they any good?
And does anyone else think that Every Year You Wasted is such a good song?
Secaucus. And I guess there was an LP before that too, eh? A feud with the label is keeping it from being re-released, but we'll see how long that lasts. They're hot right now and the money has to be tempting.
Anyhow, I just picked up a complilation thingy outta the used bin ($4): The Wrens and The Five Mod Four. The Wrens have the first three tracks:
Was There Ever
which I only listened to once 'r twice. Nothing that special here. Cool to have, though. :-)
the early ones go for quite a bit on ebay/
and i'm a little disappointed with it. it's not as grand and epic as the meadowlands. it sounds like an undeveloped band.
still, if you're a hardcore fan it's probably essential.
If so, yes it's brilliant! The ending is amazing.
Earlier albums - they are good but different. I have Secaucus (1996) and the Abbott 1135 EP (1998) on CD-R (you will struggle to get an actual copy of either), and they are very fun. In general it's a lot scuzzier and more punkish, the songs are shorter and it's not as emotional (in general). So it's an entirely different experience, but worth getting if you're into your noisy indie-rock.
