any cdf disers going to any good gigs in the next couple of weeks?
Jeffrey Lewis on the 7th, A Hawk and a Hacksaw on the 10th, Arab Strap on the 12th. A good week for me...
Polysics @ Barfly next monday
Melt Banana @ Clwb at some point
Vincent Vincent & The Villains, with support from Envelopes @ Barfly on Friday
Franz @ the Arena
Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! @ Barfly on umm, the wednesday after Franz
A Hawk And A Hacksaw as mentioned by twat-o-rama
I'd like to go to the acoustic Pipettes show in Barfly but I'm not sure I'll be around for that. Same goes for The Chalets and Forward Russia unfortunately :-(
And then fast forward to March the 7th and I'll be seeing The Go! Team in the Coal Exchange.
sounds good. but i hate the barfly, crappest venue in the 'diff.
i tend to concentrate on the ones i can get into for free.
minus the bear tonight, martha wainwright(or motorhead) on thurs, dizzee rascal on the 10th, taste of chaos on the 12th and hundred reasons on the 15th.
not heard attack and defend, but i used to live just off albany road, roath.
when is forward russia?
I like the Barfly. There's nowhere else in Cardiff where you can see a band every night of the week, which does lead to some doubts about quality controll, but I've seen some excellent gigs their in the 4 years it's been open. And the staff are nice. They've got new speakers in now, and they're getting new 'everything else' as well. I don't see how people think it's the worst venue in Cardiff. I'd rather go see a band in Barfly than in the not-so-Great Hall or the Arena.
cheers for the info.
ok, should stated: venue of that size.
i agree about the arena, pants.
you going out tonight? bands in barfly and clwb...
I might go to Clwb but I'm trying to not spend money this week -rent's due and all that. Thinking of popping into that new Buffalo place for a quick drink though -Forecast put a clubnight on there every Tuesday now. Could be good.
The 'great' Hall is definately the worse venue in Cardiff. The sound's crap 95% of the time.
Attack & Defend have a MySpace if you wanna hear them. www.myspace.com/attackanddefend -apparently they live above that dodgy looking takeaway Ribs place on Mackintosh Place, next to D'Vinyls.
if you do, come say hi. i'll look like my picture. and then a can do a 'i met monpot' thread.
whats the best venue? in your opinion...
were brilliant tonight.
went to clwb ifor bach and they ruled.
seperate thread i think.
My friend Rich was there though.
I ended up in that new Buffalo place, nice even though it was dead and pretentious.
rich who? it as excellent.
ok support, missed the next nine years which isnt a big problem as i'm not that fussed and they're splitting up. night and the city of broken promises bored me a bit, they set up the guitars on the floor(not the stage) and faced away from the audience most of the time.
boom in the diamond industry and the take were good. i saw them when they did the final douglas show last year. bitdi were good then and even better now. need to get some of thier stuff.
one of the perks of being a photographer is getting to be at the front and get the best view. i ended up sitting between the monitors between jake and david. watching them use their pedals to create melodies was amazing, reminded me a bit of chad from mansun.
anyway, one of(if not 'the') best gigs this year.
night and the city would be really really ace if they played for a bit shorter.
i missed that show because i was away which suucks as minus the bear are brilliant.
anyways next week martinis and gindrinker are playing. and the chalets. and the constantines in newport i think.
