The Fall in Glasgow

cadd [Edit] [Delete] 5 replies 01:00, 17 October '05
Just in after seeing The Fall in Glasgow.

My first Fall gig and enjoyed it. Thought £16 was a bit harsh until John Cooper Clarke did a support set which I didn't know about, result.

A pissed MES wandering about switching amps off in midsong, had his balls felt by a guy at the front and tried to gub him, someone tried to join in with him and the woman on keyboards and got a smack on the hand with the mic by MES. Only drawback was the slamming drunk idiot division, you know the type, stripped to the waist, team handed, old enough to know better and just making complete fucksticks of themselves, deliberately slamming women, spilling drinks, etc. An allround good gig though. Place went apeshit during Sparta FC and I Can Hear The Grass Grow.

£16 isn't really bad if you think about how long they've been going and everything. Granted they aren't the most successful band ever but you'd easily pay £16 for a band who've made one album these days, or £25+ for one who've been around 25+years and made about 50 albums...

I can't decide which date to see them at London. I know if I go to one they'll play something I wanted to hear at the other date or there'll be some comedy Mark E Smith moment I miss.

    Hmm.

No John Cooper Clarke in London. Argh.

The set was made up mostly of stuff from the new and the last album.

Mr Pharmacist, Sparta FC and I Can Hear The Grass Grow seemed to provoke a bit of an exuberant response.

    *hooray*

I don't think John Cooper Clarke is going to be there though.
