I'm slightly nervous about this album.
I quite like that song on first listen, although it's a bit too much like a band version of an Owen song. I don't want a band version of an Owen album, if that makes sense? (i mean i know some of the Owen stuff is bandy, but, yeah, i don't want American Football to be that).
but I ask, what do you want from an American Football record 17 years later?
I've heard the record (get me), it definitely has similarities to The King of Whys as it was recorded around the same time, but it still feels like American Football, just matured by a decade and a half.
one just has to accept they're much older now
In answer to your first question, I want an american football album. Owen is fine, but too vocal. I'm not overly sold on Mike's singing, so prefer it to not be the main focus.
As I said though I do think I like this and also the apparent continued use of 'tricky' signatures.
What you and others who have heard it have said thus far is fairly reassuring too.
