the caretaker + some other guy kicking out the weird creepy noise versions of pop classics (and also kind of weird concret-y ambient things i guess?)
I loved that Leyland Kirby presents V/VM that came out a couple of years back.
Always been intrigued as to what a live V/VM entails...
was intrigued so i did some googling
About 5 minutes in, I started rolling around the venue to this horrific noise track and, at some point, rolled down the exit stairs by accident, dislocating my knee in the process. The pain was excruciating, but, like my idol Elton John, I knew the show had to go on, so I cracked my kneecap back into place and then hobbled outside for air before returning back into the venue in considerable pain with a floating kneecap.
"What I found in there was nuts: my friend, who was performing with me, had covered the entire space with cooking tomatoes, as he found a big catering tin in the venue. So the audience was covered in tomatoes, my laptop was covered in tomatoes and the floor was like an ice-rink (not good for my knee, which was giving way as soon as any weight was put on it!!!)
That's like my minimum expectations from a gig. I'm sold.
they were both wearing pig masks, were rocking inflatable guitars, and a record player going through (i think ) lots of different effects pedals - and they just put pop songs on the record player so they were all distorted and jumped around rocking out
but thats what i remember
I'm more into his stuff like Sadly, The Future Is No Longer What It Was, An Empty Bliss Beyond This World and Watching Dead Empires In Decay these days, but I'll never forget that glorious queasy, thrilling feeling I got when I first put Sick-Love on. And I still think his rework of Perfect Moment into an arabian dirge is spellbinding.
