Calling it a day, according to that social media.
thought it was 'a belter'
They're believed to have initially announced their split on the Maccabees board last week, but the delayed appearing of threads there meant no one was able to read it.
Caught a bit of their headline slot at Latitude the other week and they certainly were up to the job of putting on a main stage festival headline show. Plus they have the kudos of last year's number one album, for whatever that is worth these days. Not a whole load of those mid 00s Britrock bands have too much credibility left these days. Any word on why they're calling it a day?
FAO TheWza, please see the second sentence of paragraph 3.
Talk to them soon.
...but i'm not sure. I thought they felt less fun with each record and still prefer the debut. If that's a band growing up, or maturing as songwriters, fine, but sometimes you just want to come out of a gig an absolute sweaty mess. They were a great live band, especially in small to medium-sized venues, and the slow/fast/slow nature of their earlier songs always felt like them at their peak to me.
