Dis Users July 2016 Album Of The Month
Vote for your favourite album and also your second and third choices. Make your selections clear please as it makes tallying up the scores easier. If you list a whole bunch of albums without making your selections clear I'll take the first three mentioned as 1st, 2nd and 3rd places. No joint positions please. Sorry to be a pedant.
Your album of the month will get three points, 2nd placed album two points and 3rd placed album one point. If you name only one album I'll give that three points. If you name two albums I'll score them with three and two points accordingly.
My choices:
1. The Avalanches - Wildflower
2. The Julie Ruin - Hit Reset
3. Shura - Nothing's Real
(4. Bat For Lashes - The Bride)
Finally, The Avalanches are back with a new album. It didn't disappoint. Not as good as Since I left You but few albums are. Even Frankie Sinatra which I didn't like as a stand alone single works brilliantly in the album. The highlights are Subways and The Noisy Eater for me.
A welcome return for The Julie Ruin. A more in your face album than their previous. An excellent album. I am biased though as I like her views and all her bands. Brilliant live too.
A great pop album from Shura. I've got tickets for a gig of hers at The Moth Club as part of a Shelter charity night next week. Looking forward to that despite it being an acoustic performance apparently.
The new Bat For Lashes was pretty good. It had average reviews from many but I liked it and the new songs sounded far better live at her Rough Trade gig there.
Please forgive any shameless bumps of this thread during the week. I'll keep this thread open until Sunday 7th August and so you'll have over a week to listen to tomorrow's releases before choosing.
Vote now!! (Or later in the week) but make your choices clear please.
