Dum Dum Girls
Tapes and Tapes
found a CD-R of the first Tapes and Tapes album when I moved flat last and it turned out to be really good
The rest is just diminishing returns really.
really earnest, deep voice.
Tim Crayon or something like that?
Saw him doing an instore at Borders back in 2002. Jeez it was earnest.
He was at Islington Assembly Hall at the start of the month and it was rammed in there. It was a really good night, tbh - I can confirm there were jokes (mainly about how old he and the audience were, but still). What A Way To Win A War is a fantastic song.
I loved the first album back in the day but am genuinely baffled as to why anyone would want to listen to them now
..and a load of twee indie pop crap tbh.
Silent Alarm is still brilliant.
and a million other bands that were in NME at that time.
on my commute home last week. I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed it!
Great great great first album
Yeah that's ace too
They released their third album last year?
Pretty much reflects the demise of the NME, telling the kids what they should like over the years. Now irrelevant.
Nah, first album is still fantastic
Still great fun live...
went to see them live, quite enjoyed it at the time but have zero interest in any of their releases now.
who still listens to Dum Dum Girls.
the absolute peak of quirky mid 2000s pitchfork bullshit
actually been listening to 'Ships' a lot, lately. depends on your tolerance for guys with kind of shrill voices who can't really sing, but once you get past that, it's a really excellent and rewarding knotty prog folk pop record.
got a goodun:
That statue song can fuck off
I hear they are doing a tour this year with Jamiroquai
Who still listens to the sex pistols?
specifically that Brothers in Arms LP.
One of the biggest selling records of the 80s, no one has listened to it for about 20 years
which is a banger
but i kind of had in mind bands who are still plugging away, still getting covered by the press but you just wonder what people are still seeing in them. apparently dum dum girls is more or less a solo project now
