Musical Snobbery
NYT Film Critic A.O. Scott is trying to reclaim the word "snob": http://www.nytimes.com/2015/10/04/movies/film-snob-is-that-so-wrong.html?_r=1
Kotaku's Chris Suellentrop has already attempted to apply this thinking to video games: http://kotaku.com/how-to-be-a-video-game-snob-1735261469
So I'm wondering, is it possible to be a music snob in a way that's not utterly repellent?
Or is all this just the result of critics from multiple backgrounds experiencing a crisis of confidence having only just realised that one opinion really is just as valuable as another, and that nobody has particularly worthy taste or insight?
