Was trying to find out if Au had any new stuff coming out soon, and stumbled on this album from Holland Andrews, who is 1/3 of said band.
It's a pretty extraordinary listen. She has a serious set of pipes on her, like some sort of incredible cross between Shara Worden and Jeff Buckley, switching between an exquisitely pristine vibrato to full on gutteral howl. The music itself is pretty intense at times too. Woodwinds and brass give way to full sheets of drone and noise, while she dives up and down octaves over the top.
There aren't really any conventional songs. It's more about mood and catharsis I guess. But it's pretty compelling stuff all the same...
Check out the first track for some serious vocal gymnastics.
