New album available for free on their website:
Really not getting into it, and I proper love Wilco :(
Lukewarm reception so far, but I still can't wait to get home and download it.
Not totally, but a bit of that feel.
Second listen is sounding better than first. Not sure what my problem was. Maybe feels a bit rougher and underproduced compared to recent stuff? (I'm terrible at describing music, sorry...)
extend their anniversary tour to include the UK..
It's definitely got a looser, less 'produced' feel than a lot of their stuff but I'm all in favour of that. Sounds a little like Deerhunter at times.
Yeah it's Dad rock but it's very good Dad rock. The last two were patchier, though both have some great songs (Bull Black Nova, One Sunday Morning especially)
A fair bit recently. Might be alone here but I really love that record. Keen to get on this, will probably have a listen tmw.
take away the relatively bland taste left by the last album.
= the cat on the album cover, of course. there's never any excuse for having a cat on an album cover
so I'm quite excited to hear this.
I like the new album, probably the best thing they've done since A Ghost is Born (waits for someone to say 'that's not much of a compliment')
But seriously, you're probably right. I have quite a connection with Sky Blue Sky, and Wilco (The Album) and The Whole Love have some outstanding songs.
But in terms of "not playing it safe" and "being Wilco", yeah, best in over a decade.
that's quite a good list of albums.
never listened to this band and have no plans to tho
Wilco were one of those bands, in my mind at least, that were great once but I wasn't looking forward to any new output at all because it was always such a slog. This is refreshingly bright and easy to listen to, and it's brief. Vereh good stuff
...lean, scuzzy, loose and weird. how great that a band which carries as much weight of expectation on their shoulders as Wilco, can toss off an LP so brimming with fuck-you-life like they were kids just starting out. glorious fun.
Another new album (though not immediately available this time):
In any case, great album cover:
tells you anything about the album itself.
i like it
as i finally got round to listening to Star Wars yesterday a year after downloading it
