After a comment made in an ezra furman post i started it just got me thinking what the process is?!
and if it's available you can get a promo/link sorted out. i believe anyone can submit a review of an album to evil high lord though. not sure how tight nit the contributor community is.
sends out a weekly email to the contributors list compiling them. dunno how many people are on this, a few hundred?
if anyone wants to review something on the list, they claim it.
if more than one person wants to review something, the reviews editor chooses. if no one wants to review something that the reviews editor thinks is important for the site to review, he sends a few more emails until someone opts in
i assume that not every press release that comes in ends up on the mailing list - that's maybe 30 a week? the reviews editor presumably filters out a load of stuff that's of no interest to the site in his opinion/would make the mail out too long for reviewers to look at.
then once something's been assigned someone has to actually write the review, which they might not do, and what they write has to be of a standard, which it might not be, hence a lot of stuff ending up not being reviewed
Means the album's great but the review was probably shit, christ on a bike there's even a Golden Looking Chain review on the site now ffs
if he doesn't like the sound of it though he'll just pick something else out that hat and so forth...
I hate everything.
Would love a "DROWNED IN SOUND - not enough like Thousand Yard Stare" comment for our press pack (if we had a press pack).
but it is Friday and I am tired and needy.
Someone could also put my claim to the test, that music websites never write bad reviews of newer bands, as that won't lead to twitter-spread, and clicks and that. Plus also I guess it is a rubbish thing to have on your website "band you haven't heard of make record you won't like". So I do get it.
Gonna be massive.
